Well, I know it sounds cliche but we met on E-harmony a dating website who's claim to fame is matching you with a perfect partner. On our first date, surprise surprise I was late; he hates lateness! He was being curt as a result, and I hate curtness! So, we started out with a bang to say the least. Maybe it was the ambiance of the restaurant or the wine in our glasses but slowly we put aside pretenses and started falling in love. Hours passed by in seconds and soon the waiter was at our table clearing his throat signaling that the restaurant was closing. Not wanting our magical night to end we walked to a church just behind the restaurant and sat on a bench in front. There we shared our first kiss, and the rest is history.
Our first year was hectic! We were long distance and commuting between Long Beach and San Diego on the weekends to be with each other. I was still in college and Jeff was building his career at the bank. In that first year we went on so many adventures including a whirlwind trip to Italy that cemented for us that we would spend the rest of our lives together. Standing there in the center of St. Peter’s Square I realized that I never wanted to do another thing in my life if I couldn’t have him right there by my side.
Time seemed to just fly by! On the weekend on Jeff’s Birthday, he planned a weekend down in San Diego with me. We spent the day walking around Liberty Station and he casually asked me if I wanted to go to the restaurant where we had our first date. I thought nothing of it thinking maybe he just enjoyed the food and wanted it for his birthday dinner. After dinner he suggested we peek and see if the church where we shared our first kiss was still open. It was there on that same bench I sat on a year ago that he got down on one knee and asked if I would be his wife.
I graduated college and we finally moved in together. We started putting together the framework of our forever and carefully planning the big day. Then it happened, place after place began to close. The news headlines become more and more disturbing and finally Covid-19 arrived on our doorstep. We cancelled our wedding and desperately hunted down toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Here we are now in 2022 and its finally time to try this again. We hope that you will join us on this special day as we celebrate our one of a kind love affair.
