When Lightning Strikes in Ibiza Picture this: Olivia, sun-kissed and carefree, wrapping up a proper hot girl summer across Europe. Timothy, slightly less carefree, attending yet another fintech tradeshow on the White Isle. What are the odds? They improved dramatically when Timothy’s business partner scored a date with a friend Olivia was traveling with. Timothy and his partner were already settled at Novikov when the women walked in. The moment Olivia entered, Timothy was struck by lightning. Dinner led to dancing at Pacha and our first kiss. Two nights later, we did it all again - different venues, same magic - and by then, one of us was absolutely certain we’d found the one. We’ll let you guess who. Act I: A Week in Berlin (And a “No”) Five weeks of texting later, Olivia flew to Berlin. What followed was a week of incredible food, better wine, deep conversations, sightseeing - and, plot twist - a firm “no” when Timothy asked Olivia to be his girlfriend. Still, foundations were laid. Sometimes the best love stories start with a well-timed rejection. Act II: Frequent Flyer Miles & Falling Walls Nothing reveals someone’s true character quite like travel. Lucky for us, we became frequent flyers, mostly because Olivia was in Atlanta and Timothy was in Berlin. Miami brought legendary key lime pie at Joe’s Stone Crab and one significantly less legendary lap dance (which Olivia forced upon Timothy, for the record). Mexico City is where everything shifted. We fell in love with the city, and with each other, finally letting our guards down. Then came New York and Atlanta, where Timothy met Olivia’s inner circle: friends, sister, family. Another beautiful step forward. But Berlin became our sanctuary. Every four weeks, Olivia would fly in for a month of “normal” life together, followed by four weeks apart (powered by FaceTime, takeout, and synchronized movie nights). Act III: Forever Starts at Ten Months IYKYK: Timothy knew. And just ten months in, he proposed. Some called us crazy. Olivia said yes anyway, hence why you’re reading this. We celebrated with a week at a villa in Ibiza, surrounded by our closest friends. Best of all: no more long distance. We maximized every 90-day visa allowance, ping-ponging between Berlin, Atlanta, Stockton Heath, Malaga, Marietta, and Barcelona.
