It was Thanksgiving 2016, and Maggie had just come home from graduate school at NC State, and decided to join her mom for a Sam’s run. Little did she know that a very attractive person also decided to go to shop at Sam’s that day who also happened to know her family! Before she knew it, Maggie’s own mother was acting as wing-man and Maggie and Henry began talking about breweries in NC, and a friendship began! The next few years were marked by meet ups over good food and conversation when Maggie would come to Alabama to see family. Both had feelings for the other, but each person did not express them given the distance. However, a couple of days after Christmas 2019, Maggie and Henry ended up spending the entire day together, and Henry had to make their feelings known. Maggie soon reciprocated and a long-distance romance marked by long phone calls beginning in January of 2020 became a COVID-19-safe relationship when Maggie relocated to her parents during the initial lockdown. During a pandemic, Maggie and Henry found themselves falling in love not over fancy dates or romantic travel but over home cooked meals, long walks in Homewood, and deep, connected conversation over the things that mattered most to them. They both came to understand that, even in the strangest of circumstances, love was being formed in their connection that they could not ignore, and even more importantly, a connection neither of them wanted to live without. They wanted to not only dream of a life together but to fully live it, so they decided to begin their engagement on New Year’s Day 2021! Currently, Maggie and Henry are looking forward to planning their lives together and celebrating many years yet to come!
