Eric and Ellie met at Rough River on Memorial Day Weekend. Ellie was over in the other neighborhood with her best friend Kinsey to watch a cornhole tournament. Eric was playing in that said cornhole tournament. Afterwhile, Ellie was in conversation with an unknowingly mutual friend, Jonathon. Ellie noticed Eric inside the garage and said, "Oh he's kind of cute." Jonathon said "Eric?! Give me a second." Ellie begged Jonathon not ot embarrass her. while Kinsey was all for it. Jonathon went up to Eric and said, "Hey, I have someone I want you to meet." Eric came out of the garage and then they talked the rest of the night.

Eric asked Ellie out on January 30th to dinner on Saturday, February 11th. He chose to take her to Mesh. Leading up to the date, Ellie was as nervous as can be. She panicked and decided she had nothing cute to wear so ordered an entire outfit off Amazon that was delivered the day before the date. Eric was not nervous by many means. He invited Ellie to get ready at his house because it was easier with Astro. As they were getting ready Eric fixed Ellie a glass of wine and he had his normal vodka soda. They went and had a nice dinner and never ran out of topics to talk about. After dinner, Eric surprised Ellie by going across the bridge to sit by the river with her wine and two glasses. Eric parked the car nearly in the same spot they will be getting married at nearly 2 1/2 years later. Now, after every anniversary dinner in February, Eric and Ellie will drive over to the river, park the car, and drink wine while looking at Louisville's skyline.

Eric and Ellie took a relaxing vacation to Punta Cana located in the Dominican Republic July 2024. Nor Eric or Ellie had the intentions of a proposal happening this vacation. It wasn't until 2 weeks before the vacation, Eric decided to buy the ring. And it wasn't until 5 days before they left, the ring arrived. Tuesday: July 23rd, day of proposal. Eric had the PERFECT plan. He planned to go to dinner, have a walk on the beach during sunset, and then propose. Ellie had different plans. They got lost on their way to dinner, and as they got lost, Ellie slid down a flight of stairs. She was okay, but definitely needed a moment to breath. A worker rubbed ice on her legs and another brought a wheelchair. They both said no to the wheelchair because there was no need. After filing a report being injured on property, Ellie and Eric got to dinner. Mid-dinner, Ellie had to break the news to Eric we missed the sunset due to the shenanigans before. After dinner, they were on their way outside, but it was a monsoon. Eric, internally, was panicking because all of his plans were ruined, but he was DETERMINED to propose this day. Because of rain, they had to figure out a different way to get back to the room. Ellie insisted on calling her parents because she just fell down a flight of stairs and had to tell the funny story. On the back end, Eric was texting Ellie's mom saying, "I didn't propose yet!" Ellie shares the funny story with her parents and then Eric decides they go on another walk around the resort. They go up to a rooftop with an immaculate view of the resort. Ellie starts to take a video of the views and as she is rotating, she sees Eric move in the corner of her eye. She stops the video before it shows him because she thought he didn't want to be in the video. Little did she know, he was kneeling on a knee ready to ask her to marry him. In that moment, Ellie was crying and in shock but said yes! After, it is history. They celebrated the rest of the week with great friends they met down there.
