Looking back, we never would've thought that a church activity at a pumpkin patch would be the place we met our future spouse. We both arrived late, with our roommates, and spent the rest of the night walking around the pumpkin patch together. Eliza was new to Salt Lake City and was excited to have made a new friend. Jorge was shocked by how "forward" Eliza was when she gave him her number to play pickleball. As the months went by, Jorge began to fall for Eliza. Eliza was a little oblivious. One night in January, Jorge asked Eliza to go to a friend's party with him. That night, Eliza sang karaoke and Jorge knew he wanted to be part of her life. Lucky for him, that night was also the night that Eliza started to consider Jorge as more than a friend. A few weeks later, Jorge gathered the courage to ask Eliza on a first date.

After our first two dates, Eliza was a little unsure. But a few pints of Ben & Jerry's and some divine intervention later, Eliza gave Jorge one more chance to impress her. She asked him on a date and really fell for Jorge. A week later, Jorge kissed Eliza for the first time, right before she flew to New York City for the weekend with her roommate, Celeste. When she came back from New York, Jorge took Eliza on a pizza picnic date and ended up asking Eliza to be his girlfriend (after Eliza brought it up). Ever since then, they've spent almost every day together, getting to know each more and more.

Eliza went on a 4th of July trip she'd been planning since last year's 4th of July. Jorge was not invited. But looking back, this was a blessing in disguise. It was the longest they'd been apart since starting to date. Jorge missed Eliza a lot and feared she would realized she was better off single. To Jorge's surprise, Eliza came back and realized she didn't want to live without Jorge. A few days later, Eliza told Jorge: "If you asked me to marry you, I'd say yes." Jorge panicked! He wasn't planning to propose until the fall (when he thought Eliza would be ready). Jorge paused, thought for a couple minutes and, without a ring, asked Eliza the big question. She said yes! Jorge rushed that night to get a ring for Eliza. A week and a half later, they surprised their parents and told them they had been secretly engaged. That night, he gave her a placeholder ring from Etsy, featuring both of their birthstones. A month into their engagement, Jorge surprised Eliza with a beautiful, sparkly ring. Eliza thought they were going out for Jorge's birthday. But when the waiter brought out dessert, Eliza knew what was about to happen. Eliza said yes again and Jorge placed the ring on her finger.
