When John graduated from high school, his grandmother Joyce gifted him a bench in Central Park, by the Conservatory Water boat pond. Whenever John would come to NYC, he would make at least one trip to the bench, with hopes of sharing it with someone one day. In the summer on 2017, John and Darcy met while working together on the production of the film "Mapplethorpe". He took her to his bench on one of their first dates, and the rest is history! John intended to propose to Darcy at the bench (along with wing-dog, Cagney) but COVID sabotaged his plans. However, he still managed to surprise her with a ring on a trip to Carmel-by-the-Sea (no small feat as she hates surprises) and they took a trip to NYC a few months later to recreate the moment. They plan to continue taking family photos at the bench, for years to come.
