After connecting, Jeremiah asked for my number because he had a song he wanted to send me. One song quickly turned into “Have you heard this one?” and “Okay, you have to listen to this one…” Before we knew it, we were talking on the phone for hours and realizing just how much we had in common. Music was our first connection, but it didn’t take long to discover our shared love for live bands, the outdoors, the river, and just enjoying life. Then came our first date. Jeremiah showed up at my door, and before we had even left the house, I handed him my watch and asked if he could fix it. He immediately started getting nervous and sweating because, as he tells the story now, the only thing going through his head was, “Lord, please let me be able to fix this watch.” 😂 There he was, meeting me in person for the first time and already being put to the test. Thankfully, his prayer was answered he fixed it. For our date, Jeremiah had planned something he knew I would love a big crawfish event with live music, including Shane Smith & the Saints. There was just one little detail I didn’t find out until we got there… Jeremiah is allergic to crawfish. 😂 So while crawfish may have gotten us there, barbecue ended up being on the menu. And then came the now-infamous porta-potty incident. I had already warned Jeremiah about my serious porta-potty phobia and told him I wasn’t planning on drinking much because there was absolutely no chance, I was using one. As if I needed any more confirmation, an intoxicated couple disappeared into one together while a crowd outside started banging on the door. When they finally emerged, complete chaos followed. It was ridiculous, hilarious, and somehow became one of those stories from our very first date that we’ll probably be telling forever. When the night turned cold, we left the event and found a little hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant. We sat there over a couple of drinks and chips and just kept talking. The next morning, we met for coffee and once again ended up talking for hours. After that, we were pretty much inseparable. There wasn’t one big, dramatic moment when we decided this was it. It was actually much quieter than that. It was calm. It was peaceful. It was easy. It just felt right. And somehow, what started with “Can I get your number? I have a song I want to send you?” turned into a life filled with music, concerts, river days, adventures, laughter, and a love that simply feels like home. And we’re still sending each other songs. ❤️
