Amy and Jake first met on Sunday, January 19th, 2025 at the Orange County Zoo. Jake had just moved from Lemon Grove to Irvine that January. Amy had been in neighboring Lake Forest for nearly a decade. Both had been through the trenches on dating apps, with both positive and negative experiences. New Years inspired Amy to give it one more try, and sure enough, two weeks later she matched with Jake. They quickly chatted over commonalities when Jake asked Amy to join him at the Zoo. While fawning over cute animals and bonding over shared experiences and values, neither could get a read on each other. When Amy suggested a second date later that week over sushi (a cuisine that they both OBSESS over), it was an emphatic YES from Jake. Now the intentions were starting to become more clear.
