We technically met long before we ever knew what “dating” even was. From the time we were babies until about five years old, we grew up side by side, completely unaware that our lives would one day come back together. We even have baby pictures together to prove it. After our time together at daycare, life took us in different directions. Although we lived close and attended schools only about 15 minutes apart, we somehow never crossed paths again. Through elementary school, middle school, and even high school, we never ran into each other, which now feels almost impossible considering how many mutual friends we had. Looking back, there were so many “almost” moments. My high school best friend dated a baseball player at Northwest Rankin, so I spent countless nights at games, not realizing Dalton was on the field at the same time. Later, I would travel to Jones Junior College to visit friends and watch their soccer games, completely unaware that Dalton was there too, playing baseball. Our paths were constantly running parallel, but never quite crossing. Years later, during Dalton's first off-season home from professional baseball, God finally placed us in the same place at the same time, at church. After all those years of near misses, we ran into each other there, and from that moment on, everything just felt different. We started spending time together and quickly became inseparable. When we look back at our story, especially those baby pictures from years ago, it’s impossible not to see God’s hand in every step. Through every missed moment and every detour, He was quietly working behind the scenes, bringing us back together exactly when the timing was right.
