So it goes...

10/20/2007: The Day We Met - 12/20/2008: The Night We Fell In Love

Cory & I met before a Ween concert in Chicago. As my mom & I traveled the country to see Ween shows, we hung out with Cory several times in several states. Though I got to know him during these trips, my mother was always with me, so he never stood a chance at hitting on me. So it goes. In Dec 2008, my mom & I flew to Philadelphia (Cory's hometown at the time) for a Gene Ween Band concert. The singer, having caught pneumonia, cancelled the show, and we found ourselves with nothing but time to kill. I called Cory as we left the airport, and he quickly volunteered to be our host/tour guide/chauffeur. When we arrived at his place, I noticed a book on his night stand, The Slaughter House Five. Well, you see, I always carry a book when I travel, and that happened to be the same book I had in my backpack. Same chapter, same page. So it goes. During this stay, Cory invited us to spend an extra night so that we could see Chris Harford & The Band of Changes, featuring Dean Ween. This show was the same night that our flights were booked to leave. My mom had to work the following day and couldn't contemplate staying, but for me it was still a weekend. Concerned with the costs of changing my flight, I said I'd have to think about it, and my mom & I caught the train to stay in NYC that night. So it goes. As my mother & I were having dinner in Little Italy, she brought it to my attention that Cory, this very handsome, polite young man that we've come to know, seemed like he might be into me. She told me she would trust leaving me with him, and implored me to think of a price point that would be worth changing my flight to see if sparks might fly once my mother wasn't around. I wrote down a $, called Delta, and found they were actually offering vouchers to give up my flight due to weather delays. So I changed my flight. The next night, as Chris Harford set the mood in The Hillbilly Hall, sparks were more than flying, and the whole room could feel us falling in love. So it goes...
