Amy and Payton met at a Nashville Sounds baseball game, both attending the game with mutual friends. Payton noticed Amy right away but Amy was mostly focused on the coke slushies. It wasn't until a few weeks later that Payton worked up the courage to ask Amy for her number. He wooed her with endless dad jokes, dance moves, and the promise of a movie night at the Belcourt (yet to happen...) and she couldn't help but give him her real phone number. After a busy spring, they finally went out on their first date in May at Pinewood Social. They talked for hours about family and soccer, Payton got sun burned while Amy got a nice tan, and they made plans to hang out later that evening. They spent as much time together as they could over next few weeks and once summer hit, they were inseparable.

They took a much needed vacation over Labor Day weekend to Asheville, NC with the newly adopted pup, Oliver. After acting strangely throughout the drive there and the morning before a day of hiking and breweries, Payton got down on one knee and asked Amy if she would marry him. It was halfway down at a private lookout on a hike on the Blue Ridge, away from other hikers and with Oliver by their side. They celebrated by finishing up the hike, taking a drive on the parkway, and spent the rest of the weekend drinking coffee, hiking, and brewery hopping- all of their favorite things.
