Both of my grandmother’s and the creativity of my creole heritage have inspired my baking. I love playing around with colors, textures, and flavors. Hi there! My name is Arley & I love to bake. Even more than that, I love people, & imagining a better world for everyone in it. To me, that means creating the change we desperately need to see, through my baking. I currently use fundraisers & advocacy to make whatever difference I can with flour, butter, sugar, & eggs; & to invite others to make a difference too. Someday, I’d love to open a bakery that honors the lives of marginalized people through social hiring & employment practices. I’m Jessica, the owner, cake designer, and baker behind Louisa’s Homemades. Louisa was my middle name growing up, so I revived this family name through my business. I come from a food family with two Grandmas who will not take “no” for an answer when asked if you’d like something to eat! I fell in love with baking as a child, creating and tasting treats with my Grandmother for family celebrations. Whenever we would bake something together she would always tell me to “pat it with love,” and it is this sweet phrase that inspired my business.
