After years working at a luxury entertainment design company in NYC, I noticed a void in live music, one where planners saw music as the background to the main event rather than something that can guide and elevate it. The bands weren’t listening to the room. We should make deliberate music choices based on the people in it, reacting to them. Not the other way around. My desire to create this harmony sparked the founding of Honey+Vinyl in 2013. We are a 5-member brass ensemble specializing in wedding Ceremonies & Cocktail Hours. We charge $400 for the Ceremony and $400 for Cocktail Hour, and if $600 for both. For ceremonies we play classical music and for cocktail hour we play jazz, but of course we will do whatever the Bride & Groom want! Billy Nemec’s acoustic guitar & striking vocals soar in front of the harmonic gentleman band of washboard percussion, upright bass, trumpet, and saxophone. The Ladybugs’ varied repertoire of music is enhanced by the enchanting, dulcet tones of voices and trombones. Our music is a reflection of our home city, New York; culturally diverse, fashionable, and welcoming to all people. The music we play is a unique blend of genres we call “Dreamy Latin cowgirl jazz.” We combine our love and reverence for the classic Great American Songbook repertoire with the music of our Latin American heritage (specifically Cuban, Colombian and Brazilian) to create a unique sound. Alex Levin has been performing jazz in New York City for more than a decade. His quartet, The Living Room, performed throughout Europe. Alex returned to New York City in 2001 and quickly established himself as an in-demand solo pianist and bandleader. Margot Varret is a uniquely gifted performer with both her voice and harp. As a native born French speaker she is expert in the repertoire of Chanson made famous by iconic artists like Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour. She is also a fabulous classic jazz singer who renders the classics of the great American songbook with a signature French flair. She regularly sells out Birdland Theater leading her own group.

GLEN IS A NEW YORK CITY BASED BANDLEADER, ARRANGER, COMPOSER, GUITARIST, AND VOCALIST WHO IS IN LOVE WITH THE MUSIC OF THE JAZZ AGE AND SWING ERA. WHILE COMPLETING HIS FORMAL TRAINING IN CLASSICAL COMPOSITION AND CELLO AT THE CLEVELAND INSTITUTE OF MUSIC AND THE FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY, GLENN TOOK UP DANCING THE LINDY HOP AS A HOBBY. THROUGH THE LINDY HIS LOVE OF EARLY JAZZ GREW, BUT HE LAMENTED THAT THERE WERE SO FEW MUSICAL GROUPS THAT SPECIALIZED AUTHENTIC PERFORMANCE OF HIS FAVORITE KIND OF MUSIC.

OFTEN HUMOROUSLY LIKENED TO AN INFLATABLE TUBE MAN ONSTAGE BECAUSE OF HER ENTHUSIASM, PASSION, AND PHYSICALITY, ALL FLUTIST EVA DING EVER WANTS TO DO IS IMBUE IN HER AUDIENCE THE SAME SENSE OF JOY AND RICHNESS MUSIC BRINGS TO HER. HER MOST INTERESTING GIG TO DATE, HOWEVER, HAS TO HAVE BEEN WHEN SHE WAS THE OPENING MUSICAL NUMBER FOR PRO-WRESTLER, ORANGE CASSIDY, AT INDEPENDENT WRESTLING TV’S “FAMILY REUNION” MATCH.

Erica Mancini is one of our top artists at Music Dept. She is a Chicago-land native, born to Argentine parents, who moved to New York City in 2009. Erica has performed as an accordionist, vocalist, and percussionist internationally and throughout the US. Her diverse repertoire includes Jazz, New Orleans Music, French, and German/Bavarian/Oktoberfest. Erica also loves to perform well loved pop songs which audiences would never expect to hear on Accordion. These songs range from 80’s pop anthems to Amy Winehouse covers.

Chika and the Starry Night is a band fronted by Chika and her husband Tatsuya Sakurai, who hail from Japan and now live their dream of playing jazz in New York City. Their swinging style is informed by their love of jazz as well as their devotion to one another.
