“Despite all of the planning and all your, and everyone else’s best efforts, things will not go as expected at your wedding, and that is just a cold, hard, truth. They can go unexpectedly in a great direction, or they could become annoyances, catastrophes, or disappointments. Or, you can hire Zach Book, and every unexpected moment, even the ones that initially seemed disastrous, turn into something purely magical. Long story short, lots had to be changed to our outdoor wedding due to rain. Zach rolled with all the changes and then some. He crouched behind a small room divider during our ceremony when we had to relocate it to under the tent onto his DJ stage, allowing us to still get the perfect moments with our officiant. He coordinated with three performers that we had in order to have their songs and backing tracks ready for aerial performances, live singing, and lip-synching. At one point in the night our generator went out, and by some stroke of genius he had a portable boom box that he held above his head, blasting “It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay” by Whitney Houston while our friend, a drag queen, lip synched illuminated by only cell phone light as she projected beautiful and ethereal shadows onto the tent wall. There are photos of my best man, also holding the boombox above his head, in what is one of my favorite wedding photos. The rain stressed me out so much, as did all of the changes we had to make last minute to plan around it - and the generator going out could have been a night-ending moment. Instead, the party went on, more unexpected, more perfect, more “us” than possible. Our speeches and cake cutting occurred way later than scheduled and he was still ready for the moment and right on track. When a less-than-sober family member delivered a rambling speech, he played hilarious Oscar-style send-off music that cut the tension and gave us a perfect moment of levity that we can use to deliver some good-natured ribbing for the rest of our lives. He somehow coordinated with my mother on the day of the wedding to allow her to fake me out with a slow song briefly before our planned up-beat mother/son dance. He showed up early. He sent us a playlist the day-of for getting ready to that was an upbeat primer to the night’s music. He wore a costume that perfectly fit our playful and Halloween-centric theme (and also matched the processional music which we chose, which was a song by the Muppets.) He brought extra microphones. He understood our sort of quirky and unique assignment for wedding vibes, and he fed off our energy, and he gave us things to add in that we hadn’t even considered. And the vibes were immaculate. The real sorcery is probably that there isn’t any sorcery at all; Zach both listened to us and has the compassion to understand what we really needed; what decisions were perfect for our spooky/sexy/joyous/riotous wedding. What felt like miracles were probably just his incredible ability to feed off the energy of a crowd, to understand what we wanted as a couple, and to have the foresight to plan ahead for unexpected occurrences. However, in the moment, it truly felt like magic. If none of what I described sounds like what you want from your wedding, don’t worry - I have full faith that Zach matches your energy and your desires and delivers based on what put forward. He’s kind and considerate and fun and prompt and delightful. One of the true highlights was working with, and ultimately experiencing, Zach Book.”

“Kelton from Marquee Artists was amazing! He was a communicative and active participant in the planning of the music and the announcements at my wedding on March 9. Kelton provided an extensive list of potential songs to play in a shared Google Document with columns for “play” and “do not play” which was great. Also, I was impressed that he attended the walk through of the Whittemore House a month prior to the wedding, asking pertinent questions of the Whittemore staff about the placement of various things and how best to provide the sound amplification that would be needed. He provided wireless mics which worked really well for the toasts. Kelton did a great job as the master of ceremony and his mix of the selected music was fun and fabulous. He had the crowd dancing, rocking to the music. Many of the older folks told me that they hadn’t danced in years but were having lots of fun doing so then. Having him on our wedding team instilled so much confidence in me, my daughter and new son-in-law, who is an amateur DJ. “We're quite saddened by their google review, posted even before we had a chance to actually speak with them to clear up several serious inaccuracies. Our band has HUNDREDS of positive online reviews/satisfied wedding clients. And we'll always accept valid criticism. But this one is mostly false and unfair. As Zola does not provide the option for responding to negative reviews, the following are our comments: 1. Since the bride and groom hadn't hired a wedding planner everything was extremely disorganized as we received their timeline just one week prior to the event, but then they changed it twice more, including two days before. Despite asking for our bandleader's phone #, the groom never reached out to discuss any of these details. In other words, we were given minimal direction in regard to all of the last-minute changes. Even on the wedding day itself, our band was asked to set and reset their equipment multiple times because the bride and groom disagreed with the onsite coordinator's floor plan, moving/resetting the bride and groom table as well! 2. According to what the photographer told us, the bride and groom's limo driver was over 90 min. late, shifting the entire timeline and putting them in a bad mood from the very beginning, as noticed by our bandleader at around 5:15pm when he first introduced himself, prior to the band providing either live or recorded music. 3. Regarding the recorded music, it was only lacking for approx. 45 min. as the band discovered the phone battery issue at approx. 7:45pm, during their first break, quickly rectifying the situation by putting the phone on a charger and then continuing with the recorded music outside from approx. 8-10pm. Furthermore, they made up for it by keeping their system running for an extra 30 min., beyond our contracted time of 11pm. And those comments regarding the afterparty are also totally untrue as somebody from the band was manning the system, until a cousin of the bride or groom demanded that he use her playlist instead, and then she responded angrily when he finally turned off the system at 11:30pm. 4. As for the band's sound system, we do acknowledge some 'hum' issues as there was just one electrical outlet provided for the entire band, resulting in 'dirty power' which couldn't be fully corrected. And we deeply regret mispronouncing the various names as most were very unfamiliar and of Indian origin, despite our lining up the wedding party in advance and writing everything down phonetically. 5. Even though some of the client's emails mentioned solo keys during cocktails, we provided a duo, covering an extra 30 min. of recorded music from 4:30-5pm at no extra charge, as requested. While it's standard practice for a band to take a dinner break during an almost six hr. event, this was clearly-specified in our contract as well. And then we performed continuously from 8:30-10pm, including most of the requested songs that we had prepared well in advance. So their comments about seemingly just 'walking off a bus' are completely false and misleading. In other words, our musicians went 'above and beyond' in spite of some very challenging circumstances. 6. Fortunately, we did receive a 'happy reaction' with a crowded dance floor and TONS of compliments from the guests, some requesting pictures w/the band too, while even the bride and groom were singing along and dancing non-stop, which we were VERY happy to see, making their negative review even more surprising though!”

“From the pre-wedding planning to jammin out the entire night of our wedding, Fresh Take Band was the absolute best! If you're looking for a band that is organized, energetic, talented, and personable, look not further. We had Fresh Take perform at my wedding with the addition of 2 horns & they were truly exceptional! Daniel, head of Fresh Take, was amazing during our planning process and the band was absolutely phenomenal during our wedding! We had seen this in a previous review so we asked the band to have the horns lead everyone outside to our cake cutting & had surprise fireworks. The 2 horns played a melody leading my husband and I, and our other guests outside. I will never forget the look on everyone's faces as the horns played - amazing! At the end of the night the trumpist and saxophonist also guided our guests out to the sparkler exit. It was the perfect extra touch to really - WOW- our guests! They even included some personal touches with our first song- learning the lyrics to "Love like crazy" and changing a few words making it increasingly intimate! Throughout the night and in the days after our wedding, it was a consistent theme that everyone LOVED our band - obviously my husband and I did too! “We booked Mama Juke for our 9/24/2022 wedding and they did not disappoint. I can’t say I wasn’t nervous, as they didn’t have any reviews posted yet, but Jon was very helpful in addressing all our concerns and they kept our guests entertained and dancing all night long! They learned our first dance song- Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves and put their own flair to it, which we loved. They are such a fun mix of rock, jazz, bluegrass, country and played a good mix of songs for all ages.
