Shortly after, I launched my wedding business. The Long Version: Weightlifting has taken me to places like Turkmenistan, Germany, & across the country! The weightlifters started getting married, and along the way, I received training to advocate for diverse bodies as a photographer. During this time of transition, I started taking documenting courses through the International Center of Photography and work on documenting local stories.

I found my passion for art while growing up surrounded by horses in a small town in Brazil. The shapes, textures, and colors of the horses always have been inspiring to me. I would create imaginary cameras out of my toys and would ‘photograph’ the horses and my neighbors. Since 2008, I’ve found myself as a professional photographer who strives to capture life, in all of its twists + turns, candidly. In addition to taking pictures, I am: the owner of The Made Fest, a handmade + vintage festival; in love with my husband; a co-founder of Smile Politely, a Champaign-Urbana local culture magazine and The Pygmalion Festival; a master gardener; an epicurean; and a mother. I am a feminist and a LGBTIAQ ally.

When I’m not photographing amazing people, you'll find me hiking in the Hudson Valley with my family, brunching with my girlfriends, or planning my next vacation (mostly likely on a beach somewhere). I'm obsessed with warm weather, family gatherings, and sunsets. When it's chilly out, you'll find me with a hot cocoa in hand. If there's music on, it's likely country or throwback 80s jams. I have been blessed to find “home” on three different continents, and I speak fluent English, Spanish and Portuguese. I started in photography much as everyone else did. What was once a hobby in 2002 quickly became a passion. I started out with a 35mm film set up and would hang out in the city capturing candid moments of people going about their day to day lives. For me, it was like stepping outside the world around me and documenting it like looking through a window into a world I was no longer part of. In 2008, when I myself got married, I realized that a wedding day is one of the most emotional moments for a couple. Not only for them but for the families involved as well! It was Oct. 31st, 2008 when I shot my first wedding. I haven't looked back since.

I have photographed in over 50 countries and I once photographed Lin-Manuel Miranda before he was mega-famous. We hung out for the day and he freestyle rapped for me. He is rad.
