The countless compliments from our friends and family on what an amazing DJ and team we had found only justifies our feelings of gratitude we have developed for this business. Not only were Alex and Gabriel’s performance the highlight of our wedding, the planning process was very simple yet extremely detailed. Their pre-event app they offer and phone call meetings helped us lay out exactly what our wants and needs were. They also contributed and helped us in mapping together our event timeline to have a better flow for the evening with the right songs at the right moments. To say they are masters at what they do is an understatement. We also chose to add on uplighting and Photo Booth options to our package and we are so happy we did!!! The uplighting enhanced the romantic mood we had curated for dinner and completely changed the atmosphere during the dancing portion of the evening. The Photo Booth was easy to use and we were able to see and save every photo that was taken throughout the night. “Despite all of the planning and all your, and everyone else’s best efforts, things will not go as expected at your wedding, and that is just a cold, hard, truth. They can go unexpectedly in a great direction, or they could become annoyances, catastrophes, or disappointments. Or, you can hire Zach Book, and every unexpected moment, even the ones that initially seemed disastrous, turn into something purely magical. Long story short, lots had to be changed to our outdoor wedding due to rain. Zach rolled with all the changes and then some. He crouched behind a small room divider during our ceremony when we had to relocate it to under the tent onto his DJ stage, allowing us to still get the perfect moments with our officiant. He coordinated with three performers that we had in order to have their songs and backing tracks ready for aerial performances, live singing, and lip-synching. At one point in the night our generator went out, and by some stroke of genius he had a portable boom box that he held above his head, blasting “It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay” by Whitney Houston while our friend, a drag queen, lip synched illuminated by only cell phone light as she projected beautiful and ethereal shadows onto the tent wall. There are photos of my best man, also holding the boombox above his head, in what is one of my favorite wedding photos. The rain stressed me out so much, as did all of the changes we had to make last minute to plan around it - and the generator going out could have been a night-ending moment. Instead, the party went on, more unexpected, more perfect, more “us” than possible. Our speeches and cake cutting occurred way later than scheduled and he was still ready for the moment and right on track. When a less-than-sober family member delivered a rambling speech, he played hilarious Oscar-style send-off music that cut the tension and gave us a perfect moment of levity that we can use to deliver some good-natured ribbing for the rest of our lives. He somehow coordinated with my mother on the day of the wedding to allow her to fake me out with a slow song briefly before our planned up-beat mother/son dance. He showed up early. He sent us a playlist the day-of for getting ready to that was an upbeat primer to the night’s music. He wore a costume that perfectly fit our playful and Halloween-centric theme (and also matched the processional music which we chose, which was a song by the Muppets.) He brought extra microphones. He understood our sort of quirky and unique assignment for wedding vibes, and he fed off our energy, and he gave us things to add in that we hadn’t even considered. And the vibes were immaculate. The real sorcery is probably that there isn’t any sorcery at all; Zach both listened to us and has the compassion to understand what we really needed; what decisions were perfect for our spooky/sexy/joyous/riotous wedding. What felt like miracles were probably just his incredible ability to feed off the energy of a crowd, to understand what we wanted as a couple, and to have the foresight to plan ahead for unexpected occurrences. However, in the moment, it truly felt like magic. If none of what I described sounds like what you want from your wedding, don’t worry - I have full faith that Zach matches your energy and your desires and delivers based on what put forward. He’s kind and considerate and fun and prompt and delightful. One of the true highlights was working with, and ultimately experiencing, Zach Book.”

“We liked Edward Zaruba a lot initially because when we talked, he was concise and seemed fun as opposed to some of the other DJs we spoke to. Picking a DJ was hard because unlike a photographer where you can look through their work, you generally go off of price and vibes because you can’t sit through an entire set as your wedding set list is based off yourself. Edward didn’t talk too much and to be transparent, we didn’t want a DJ that would talk more than they played music, so that paired with his price point made him a good fit for us. We had a good experience with him on our wedding day. His system for the outside was simple but worked the way we needed it to. He hid everything behind some of the greenery so that none of the guests could see it and it would not be in view for the pictures. Even though the weather was windy that day, the microphones picked up well on the all of the sound. He set the groom and officiant up with wireless microphones that were nicely hidden. His speaker was loud and clear for everyone to hear. His system for the inside was also great for the space and the included dance lighting added a nice vibe for the night and turned out nice in our photos. Our only (half) complaint was we gave him a must, MUST playlist (about 6 songs), and only a few of them played. We think this can be attributed more so to lack of time to play all the songs we love and of course know even if we could have spent an additional hour dancing, there probably would have been songs we missed. Outside of that, he picked phenomenal music, and he knew how to transition from one song to the next to keep everyone on the dance floor and having fun. We appreciated his ability to introduce our party and us. He spoke the perfect amount and did great with the nights transitions.”

We wanted a chill vibe for our "rustic elegant" barn wedding, and music that would work for a relaxed family style dinner, dance floor for those who wanted to dance, and chilling by the fire pits with s'mores later. Ryan completely understood our vibe and delivered! His live music during dinner was amazing - we had heard his YouTube videos and they don't do justice to his live performance! Later Ryan switched from live music to DJing and he masterfully balanced the energy for all of our wedding guests. Guests could enjoy conversations at the table while still hearing each other, the dance floor was hoppin from little nieces and nephews up to grandparents and the fireside ambiance outside was on point. As an added bonus, his dance floor lights looked magical on the barn beams. This guy is the real deal, and is unique in the industry with both live and DJ music all in one! “I am not sure I can sing enough praises for The Hook Club (okay, I'll let them do the singing). Every single communication we had with Dan, Jesse, and the rest of the band was professional, funny, and enjoyable - and that's certainly not something you can say about everyone. We booked THC back in March 2020 before the shutdown and they were so flexible and kind as we went through various reschedulings of our wedding. They are so well-prepared and thoughtful, really considerate of what you want and what you and your spouse imagine your wedding to be, and very clear on what they need from you. As it got closer to our date, Dan and Jesse were super communicative and when we ran into some issues with COVID causing our guest numbers to dwindle, they were our own little hype team, telling us that they'd be sure we had a good time even with fewer guests. I'm not sure I ever told them how much it meant to me to have their reassurances during that time. I have known from the moment I got engaged that I wanted a live band at my wedding and truly, we could not have found a better one. My parents were skeptical of a large live band, but when my husband and I went to that first THC showcase, we knew from that moment that they were the band for us. We promised our family and friends a good time, and we followed through. Our guests were astonished, literally jaws dropping all over the place as the band got going. My parents' faces were incredible to behold and my sometimes-curmudgeonly dad was grinning from ear-to-ear all night and kept telling me for days after how great THC was. I got so many comments about the musicianship, the energy, and how incredibly fun they were. Multiple people told me it felt like we were at a concert - which it totally did! They got everyone engaged in the dancing, playing music that guests of all ages could enjoy, and engaged with everyone down on the dance floor and really made it feel like a million people were there, which was important to me. I could really ramble on forever at how incredible they were, but I'll just sum it up to say that they were the life of the party and I am so thankful. I'll also add that we had a solo guitar for the ceremony and solo piano for the cocktail hour and that was just absolutely perfect. Each individual member of the band is extraordinarily talented, so whatever combination of musicians you go with will be incredible. I cannot recommend The Hook Club enough - I wish I could give ten stars. Every moment of working with them was a pleasure and I feel so lucky. Thank you a million times over!”
