I’m Haverlee, (hay-verlee), solo parent of three wild things. My photography career was birthed from many years of pain. My life derailed and everything felt unstable and uncertain. The more difficult things became, the more I clung to small moments of beauty. When things felt dark, I clung to the light. And I could always find light in people and in nature. Focusing on others instead of my own dark days brought me joy every time without fail. I always knew I was creative but it took me a while to find my niche! As I ventured into photography, everything fell into place. It was as if I already knew the language, I just had to find the words.

I am lucky; I get to do what I love for a living, have a ton of fun doing it, and meet a lot of great people along the way. It's a bonus that I get to also travel a lot for it as well. Here are a few fun facts about me! I grew up on my family's farm outside of Winfield, IA and had THE BEST childhood growing up in a loving family with my two younger sisters. My husband, Kolton, and I started dating back in 2010 when he was a senior and I was a junior. After high school I attended Western Illinois University where I earned my Bachelors in Graphic Design with a minor in Photographic Media. While in college I was blessed to have a photographer back home take me under her wing and be her second shooter for weddings (Shoutout to Billi Gerling, Photographic Memories!).

My passion for photography and weddings began when I was very young. I staged Barbie weddings, making their dresses from Kleenex, then snuck Mom’s camera to take pictures of them. I moved on to dressing up my little sister in a pillowcase veil, again sneaking Mom’s camera. When she got tired of me using up all her film, she brought home several Bride magazines from the free pile at the library and I spent hours reading them, then pinning pages of beautiful wedding dresses on the ceiling of my bedroom. When “The Wedding Planner” came out in 2001, my fate was sealed

I'm Alissa. a 21 year old wedding photographer whose planted her roots in the midwest, the coziest place in the states. I always wanted to be an art teacher, something that would let me express my creativity everyday, went to college to be just that.. yeah didn’t work out. it wasn’t enough, i knew it wasn’t for me so randomly, i considered photography. never picked up a camera in my life but suddenly had a firey passion to be a photographer? unheard of. my mom was like alissa, you’re out of your mind. she probably grew some grey hair from my sudden choice to switch my major.

I opened my buisness, because of my passion for capturing moments that are so genuine that you can see the personality in the photograph. I has been taking photos for over a decade. I love to take photos of everything but folks love her for couples, boudoir and weddings!
