Hiring Herbert Holler was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Our vision was a longer reception to leave plenty of room for dancing, being together, having fun and really wanted it to be a great time for everyone there, for all ages. HH had everyone dancing at the same time- kids, teenagers, or friends, our parents' friends, and my 89 year old grandmother. He was spot on in reading the room- which wasn't the most straight forward - I asked him to sprinkle some Arabic music in so my Lebanese family could come together over familiar music- all I did was provide him a couple of titles and he ran with the rest. Didn't overdo it, and everybody joined in. It was a dream. HH was professional the whole way through and didn't require tons of collab, and was flexible and quickly responsive. My advice: Hire HH.

The music and the band were a cherry on too of our perfect day! We appreciate The Hook Club sooo much! Oh! And thank you Dan for making my bubble tea dream come true for dessert! Awarded Best of Zola
Sweet Harmony provided an elegant touch to our ceremony. They were so easy to work with, I loved the online portal to organize everything, it made planning a breeze! They were very affordable, especially considering our trio included a harp, as well as violin & cello. We were able to select from their wide repertoire and loved the song selection. Our guests enjoyed the trio while they waited for the ceremony to begin. I felt like a princess walking down the aisle to "Clair de Lune", which is my absolute favorite classical song--Sweet Harmony's arrangement was so beautiful. Overall, I highly recommend Sweet Harmony.

Marcus Ho Dj

5.0

New York, NY
  • DJ

A 16-year veteran of the NYC club scene. I collaborate closely with couples to create their unique musical experiences for themselves and their guests by delivering a Sophisticated Savoire-Faire of seamlessly blended hits from past decades to what's currently in vogue; citing T-40 Dance, House, IndiePop/Rock, Nu-Disko, Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, Crossover Reggae and Crossover Latin as some of my favorites.

Awarded Best of Zola
We were incredibly fortunate and happy to have Marcus as our wedding DJ. From the very beginning, Marcus was attentive to every detail and helped us shape our vision for the music throughout our wedding day. It felt as though he understood our personal tastes and style, and did a great job suggesting and selecting playlists. He even went out of his way to help us edit our first dance song, which was a mashup of several different songs. Aside from his musical and DJ’ing talent, Marcus is a great emcee. He is very organized, professional, and well prepared – even scoping the venue before the wedding day and discovering that there was going to be a city parade on the day of our wedding that would affect traffic and transportation. The highlight of the night was the dance floor during the reception. Marcus’s song choices were spot on, and he had everyone dancing the whole night. Many guests told us how awesome the music selection was, and specifically mentioned how Marcus is a great DJ. If you're looking for a DJ who will elevate your event, Marcus is an easy choice. We can't recommend him highly enough!

Kenny Fiesta

5.0

New York, NY
  • DJ
  • Starts at $1,500

My goal for your event is straightforward: to create a musical atmosphere your guests will enjoy, in a tasteful way to conserve your excellent reputation. I look to do this by curating my family-friendly music library with all genres, removing instances or entire songs with profanity, vulgar descriptions, and offensive lyrics. I want you and your guests to feel comfortable for the entirety of the event, starting with the mood music that represents your style, whether you've chosen every song or have a few key picks you want me to build a playlist around.

Awarded Best of Zola
Our friends and family are multi-cultured so Kenny had his work cut out for him. Everyone loved the music, danced their hearts out and that made our wedding the happiest. Thank you Kenny!

What music packages are available for weddings in New York City?

Whether you want a string quartet to serenade your ceremony, a 12-piece band, or a DJ to drop beats until dawn, there's a package for every style and budget in New York City. The music package will vary depending on the group, number of performers, hours played, and more, so make sure to review all of the details in advance to ensure the soundtrack to your wedding plays without a hitch.

How do we coordinate our wedding timeline with the band or DJ in New York City?

Communication is key. Your band or DJ should be in sync with your wedding day schedule, hitting the right notes at the right moments. Discuss your timeline with them beforehand, and they'll make sure they play the right notes at exactly the right time - whether it’s your walk down the aisle or your favorite bangers at the end of the night.

Are there any noise restrictions for wedding venues in New York, NY that could affect music?

Now, that’s a savvy question! In a city that never sleeps, some venues do still have bedtime rules. Fear not, because your wedding planner or venue contacts will be clued in on any noise ordinances. They’ll make sure the party's volume matches the vibe—without the need for noise-canceling headphones.

What equipment do bands and DJs in NYC provide, and what do we need to provide?

Most bands and DJs come loaded with their mixers, mics, and maybe some flashy lights. But it's a good idea to check if your venue is set up for sound or if it's BYOS—bring your own speakers. You might need to rent some equipment if you’re planning a party in a raw or less traditional event space.
