Question

What should I wear to the wedding ceremony?

Answer

We'd love for you to wear traditional Punjabi attire! Our wedding ceremony is taking place at a Gurdwara, a Sikh place of worship. This venue requires modest attire. This includes no cleavage, exposed backs, bare midriff, or ripped pants. Please avoid sleeveless tops. Saris or heavy lehengas are not appropriate. Feminine: A salwar kameez is highly recommended. Alternatively, dressy separates with pants and a scarf could achieve a similar look with a western twist. Please keep in mind that you will be sitting on the floor with your legs crossed. If you buy a salwar kameez, it will come with a chunni/dupatta which can be used to cover your head. If you choose to wear a tunic and pants, we recommend bringing a scarf or shawl to cover your head. Masculine: Business casual to semi-formal attire is appropriate. Solid or paisley bandanas are appropriate, you may bring your own or use one provided by the Gurdwara. Everyone must remove their shoes and socks before they enter and cover their heads while they are in the Gurdwara.

Question

What should I wear to the reception?

Answer

Attire is semi-formal or cocktail. Feminine: We'd love for you to dress up in semi-formal Indian or Punjabi clothing, such as a lehenga or sari. However, you may also choose to wear formal western attire. As there is grass at our venue, please avoid stiletto heels or else you'll sink into the grass. Wide heels, dressy flats, and elegant sandals are appropriate. Masculine: Semi-formal attire or cocktail. Considerations for all: Our reception will be taking place outside in August, while there will be tent coverage - there will not be any air-conditioning, just something to think about.
