Where it all began

Their story began in the summer of 2015. One evening, Kaylee’s family accidentally left a few softballs at Vandewilt Field, and the next day they mysteriously appeared in her yard. Not long after, Kaylee received a text from Wyatt explaining that he had found the softballs and dropped them off. At the time, Kaylee’s parents’ house sat right next to the railroad tracks. Coincidentally, one of Wyatt’s friends lived nearby, and Wyatt and his friend would walk the tracks, leaving little surprises at Kaylee’s house, most memorably, dollar bills (lol). Before they knew it, those softballs had sparked something much bigger.

Middle School Era

Some of Kaylee and Wyatt’s earliest memories together were filled with sneaky plans and secret meetups, all because Kaylee wasn’t technically allowed to date until she was 16. But that didn’t stop them. They always found ways to see each other—no matter what it took. Kaylee clearly remembers telling her dad, “I’m going to marry Wyatt someday.” (Turns out, she was right.) Since Wyatt was a grade ahead of Kaylee, there was a year when they attended different schools. Even when their schedules didn’t line up, they always made time for each other.

High School Era

Finally, they were in the same school again. One of the things Kaylee and Wyatt cherish most about their story is that they truly grew up together—standing by each other’s side through every stage of life. From football games and wrestling meets to prom, homecoming, student council, and everything in between, they built countless memories they can’t wait to share with their children one day.

College Era

College and COVID became a season of growth for both of them. Wyatt moved to Ankeny to attend DMACC, while Kaylee finished her senior year of high school. During that time, they quickly realized that even a little bit of distance wasn’t for them. It was a challenging year, but no matter what, they always found ways to see each other—they were simply inseparable. After Kaylee graduated high school, they were finally living in the Des Moines area together, and their relationship blossomed into something truly special. Life brought many changes—new cities, new routines, and the exciting feeling that the world was at their fingertips. They spent nearly every night together, whether at Wyatt’s apartment in Ankeny or Kaylee’s place in downtown Des Moines, building a new rhythm of life side by side.

Currently

Wyatt and Kaylee have a home of their own in Colfax, where they are building a life side by side. Wyatt works for a construction company, while Kaylee pursues her career in real estate. Looking back on the past ten years, it’s truly incredible to see how God has worked through their relationship, guiding them exactly where they were meant to be. As they look ahead, they are excited for the years to come and for all the ways their relationship will continue to grow and blossom.
