This was the date of our first date, the date that somehow I had a feeling would be both of our last "first dates." I can't quite explain how or why I thought that, but for some reason it felt pretty clear to me, that the search was finally over. Once we actually met, I was even more convinced of this, but had to try (unsuccessfully) to not be the crazy dude that seems wayyy too excited after a first date. It helped that you weren't quite as sure as I was at first, which can't say I blame you... I told you one of my favorite dad jokes on our first date, so I'm surprised you didn't just run! Thankfully, you agreed to a second date, and with a little convincing from your parents and friends (can't thank you all enough), a third date. By the time the fourth date came along, there was a definite change, interest became mutual, and that continued to grow quickly as we continued to spend time together. The distance between us was and still has been the hardest part. As we've grown closer, we find ourselves never wanting to be apart. With Face Timing and talking on the phone, we came to realize just how easy it is to talk to each other about anything and everything, to be weird with each other, and to be 100% ourselves around each other. Katherine, I am "amazed by you everyday," as I said in my first social media post about you, and it stands true to this day. Jump forward to December 22nd, 2021, and this is the date that we got engaged, just short of 9 months later, at a park near downtown Rochester. I'd like to say I did a pretty good job surprising you with it, but we both know that I was quite obviously nervous, which gave you a hint that something was happening. Thankfully, you said yes, and we went on a whirlwind of family Christmas celebrations to tell all of our families just how excited we are to spend our lives together. I am just forever so thankful for you Katherine. I love you, and always will. Your future husband <3
