We met the week before Christmas in 2019. We said the L word embarrassingly quickly (as in, January LOL), but something just felt right about it. We bonded quickly over our love of cats and ability to just be authentically weird with each other. That spring when the pandemic hit we ended up quarantining together, then the quarantine kept getting extended, and I just… never left. We adopted two kittens to keep us company and knew we were in it for the long haul.
He took me by surprise one night when I came home from an event at the dance studio. We had actually been ring shopping for the first time that afternoon and didn’t find what we were looking for so I didn’t have any expectations for a proposal, but I guess he didn’t want to wait for a ring and that was absolutely fine with me! He had the lights dim with “Tighrope” from The Greatest Showman playing in the background. After telling me to go look at the cats (they were dressed up - Buddy was in a light up hot dog costume lol) when I turned around he was on one knee holding a Lego flower with a bright green coiled up pipe cleaner as the ring. It was so authentic to our relationship and the cheesiness made it absolutely perfect🥰
We both thought we wanted the big wedding with all our friends and family present, but knew it would require a lot of time and preparation and we didn’t want to wait that long to BE married. We officially tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at our new home 9.28.2023, and are very excited to celebrate our love (and of course our growing family) with everyone on our 1st anniversary 9.28.2024!
