Vira and Max met during the trying times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Though their first "meeting" was on zoom, their first real date was an 8-mile hike through Rancho San Antonio while wearing masks! As they got to know each other, Max and Vira found they had a lot in common: a love for cats, plants, and borscht. With weekly date nights and more hikes and walks, Vira was always answering Maxim’s medical questions and, in turn, he was always helping with home repairs and gardening projects. A year and a half later, Max and Vira moved into their home in San Jose. Their living room became the ultimate jungle for their feline companions and the backyard evolved into a botanical oasis. Their adventures continued with concerts at Shoreline Amphitheater; trips to the historic cities of Portugal; beaches of Florida; tropic escapes of Hawaii; and wine tastings in Hopland, Paso Robles, and Amador County. Half Moon Bay is one of the most beautiful locations in all of Northern California. On the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Max proposed to Vira.
