Let’s Celebrate!

We had a sweet intimate wedding due to COVID19 on September 19th, 2020 and now one year later, we hope to celebrate with everyone!

Her Story

Sometimes accidents turn out great

John and I met on Coffee Meets Bagel. I was hesitant to try dating apps, but with encouragement from friends I signed up. When John, who described himself as “a follower of Jesus, down to earth, silly, youthful, a good listener”, came up as a potential match, I thought why not? I clicked “Like,” realizing just moments later that he hadn’t liked me first. I always thought I would be the pursued, not the pursuer, but who knew that accident would bring us to where we are now?! Luckily, he liked me back! Our first date was on 3/27/19 in DC. We had agreed to meet at the Metro station, but I forgot and went straight to the restaurant. After some time, I began to wonder if I got stood up, but he texted and we realized my mistake. He walked in with a sheepish smile and a bag containing Haribo gummies (my favorite) and chocolates. We ordered food and he offered to pray for dinner, which I thought was sweet. We skipped dessert because the garage he had parked in was closing...but we didn’t make it back in time. We managed to sneak inside and got the car to the exit, but the gate wouldn’t open so we re-parked and decided to call it a night. He assured me that he would get home safely, so I took the Metro back with a mixture of emotions, worried for him but also laughing at what had just happened! He asked me to be exclusive about one month into dating, and then we made it official on June 9th in our favorite date spot, a parking garage in Rockville. The more I got to know his sweet and silly self the more I fell in love. Almost one year after we started dating he proposed in the same spot he had asked me to be his girlfriend. He proposed with a plain gold band because the engagement ring he bought was delayed due to COVID, and he said he just couldn’t wait any longer. Of course I said yes! On our one year anniversary we celebrated with sushi, and while taking photos he got down on one knee for a second time, but this time with the engagement ring. And I got to say yes again!

His Story

She liked me first!

I first saw Eun Jin while scrolling through the “Explore” section on my Coffee Meets Bagel app. Her profile instantly caught my eye…so naturally I spent the next 10, maybe even 20 minutes closely examining each picture and meticulously analyzing every word of her bio. Conclusion: she was my type of woman. However, based on my past experiences on dating apps [and in real life], she was the type of girl who I ‘liked’ but never ‘liked’ me back. Therefore, I concluded it wouldn’t be wise for me to use my precious beans to ‘like’ her there, but perhaps if she came up on my daily feed (where ‘liking’ is free hehe) I would ‘like’ her then. The next day or so Eun Jin pops up on my daily feed, and lo and behold, she ‘liked’ me first!! After I finished giggling like a little girl, I of course ‘liked’ her back and immediately messaged her…because John Kim does not play games! We ended up going on our first date a few weeks later in DC, and kept meeting up at least twice a week despite living an hour apart. It didn’t take long before I fell head over heels in love with Eun Jin and knew she was the one. If I had it my way, and not without me trying, we would’ve gotten married right away. But, since I am such a gentleman, I waited patiently for Eun Jin to be ready before popping the question. The moment she was ready I asked away. She of course said “Yes!”
