How We Met

How Didn't We Meet?

Andrew and Talya first met in the summer of 2017 at a friend's Mary Kay party-- purely out of their dedication to supporting their friends. While this kind of event could have led somewhere... it didn't. At least at first. Later, online, the two connected. This also led nowhere. In fact, some say Talya still hasn't returned Andrew's initial phone call to this day. The third time, however, proved to be the charm. Stalked at Disneyworld via Facebook, Andrew and Talya finally agreed to meet up in the fine tradition of enjoying a local food truck before it could drive off. Enjoying each other's company, the two agreed to meet up for their next date just two days later. From Laserdisc night to weekend getaways across the state, it's just been one harrowing adventure after another, full of derring-do and other shenanigans, with the occasional tomfoolery thrown in for good measure. After a trip to Hawaii, which Talya still disputes the occurrence of, the pair agreed on their most daring challenge yet: Getting cats and dogs to live together, preferably in harmony. They did so by finding stately Turtle Bay, their lakeside home (and so named after an obscure reference in Murder: She Wrote). With that hurdle crossed at our wonderful lake home, Andrew was faced with his final challenge: Popping the question.

A Decent Proposal

Promotion

On an evening stroll back from a newfound favorite haunt, Andrew found the perfect moment to propose outside the house. This, of course, had followed a week of attempting to get Talya out back to enjoy being proposed to in front of the beautiful lakeside surroundings. But the driveway and front door were just as fine. Despite the physical challenges of having to go use the facilities at home, Talya patiently waited while Andrew threw out a somewhat clever metaphor about getting a promotion-- from boyfriend to fiance. This notion had come up based on an incident a week before, when, while enjoying the domestic tranquility of loading items into the attic, Talya warned Andrew to be careful, as her boyfriend was on a ladder. Talya accepted the proposal, particularly pleased that Andrew remembered her full name. And there was a period of great rejoicing, after a pit stop naturally, followed by many a binge-watched show.
