Landing in Santiago, Chile on the day of Obama's inauguration, Kaitlin & Daniel were both trying to hunt down a place to watch the fanfare back in the USA. Fate brought them together at the same hostel where they quickly learned they were part of the same UC Study Abroad program - and, even better - both Gauchos from UC Santa Barbara. The first day they met was filled with celebratory toasts to the new Prez, breaking bread together over a Chilean feast, and their first kiss!

After a fun New Year's Eve celebration with friends, Daniel took Kaitlin on a visit up to the scenic overlook above Donner Lake. While gazing out at the view and turning around to pose for a picture, Kaitlin noticed Daniel down on one knee and heard those magic words: will you marry me? Loving tears were shed, strangers clapped, and a new adventure began!
