Let’s rewind to 2016 at Patrick Henry High School, where Tristan and Whitney first met thanks to a well-timed introduction from Whitney’s older brother, Robert. They quickly became close friends, with plenty of little moments and inside jokes that hinted at something more — even if they didn’t quite realize it at the time. Eventually, Tristan decided it was time to come clean. He told Robert he had feelings for Whitney, which was a bold move! Thankfully, Robert was as accepting as one would be with his friend dating his younger sister...but the rest is history! All they can say now is "Thanks, Rob." After graduation, they took their first big adventure together — volunteering in Argentina, working with kids, learning Spanish, and making life-long memories. This trip was one of the things to seal the deal! Then came the long-distance years: Whitney headed to Santa Barbara for college for 2 years, then Tristan went off to Minnesota for nursing school a year later. It wasn’t always easy, but they made it work through every late-night FaceTime, airport goodbye, and major milestone. After six years of dating (and a LOT of studying), they both became registered nurses and finally reunited in San Diego with jobs they love. To celebrate, they planned a dream trip to Europe in May 2025. But Tristan had a little extra planning up his sleeve…a question that had been in his heart for a long time. On May 2nd in Malta, after a perfect day of exploring Mdina, eating amazing food, and ending up at the Dingli Cliffs, watching the sun dip below the Mediterranean — one of Whitney’s favorite things in the world. Surrounded by so much beauty, love, and meaning, he proposed. And Whitney said yes — without hesitation. They came home engaged and more certain than ever that they’re exactly where they’re meant to be. And honestly, both of their moms called it from day one — everyone always says "Mothers know best."
