We met online in 2019...yep, modern love at its finest. At the time, Daniel was living out in Los Banos (about two hours away from San Jose, where Trang lives), so we started off as a long-distance relationship. Not ideal, but somehow it worked. For about a year and a half, we made the drive to see each other once a week: rain, shine, or pandemic. We went through a lot together early on: COVID, the 2020 wildfires, curfews during the riots…nothing says romance like dodging smoke and staying indoors for days. Honestly, if you can survive all that together, you’re probably on to something good. By the end of 2020, Daniel moved to San Jose. After bouncing around a few places, we finally moved in together in 2023. When we first met, we were basically just two kids figuring life out. These days, we’ve got steady careers, a cozy place, and a shared love for doing absolutely nothing, and everything, together. One thing we didn’t expect? How much we’d love learning from each other’s cultures. Trang wasn’t super sold on Daniel at first (online dating… you know how it goes), but over time, he won her over. Slowly but surely, something real started to grow. Trang’s family is Vietnamese, Daniel’s Hispanic, and honestly, Trang (and her family) never imagined she’d end up in an interracial relationship. But it’s been one of the most rewarding parts of our journey. From food to traditions to family values, we’ve embraced the differences and grown so much through them. These days, Daniel is like a son to Trang’s family, and yes, he’s officially a regular at the family cookouts and karaoke nights (mic in hand, of course). Over the years, we’ve built a relationship that’s not just about love, we’re truly each other’s best friend. We laugh a lot, we support each other through everything, and we’ve found so much joy in just living life side by side. Daniel used to hate traveling… until Trang changed that. Just three months into dating, we took a trip to Seattle, and since then, it’s been one adventure after another. Road trips, spontaneous getaways, and most recently, an unforgettable trip to Viet Nam. We’ve grown a lot together, not just as a couple, but as individuals, and now we’re getting married (!!). We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you.
