It is easy to rent a car at Lisbon's airport or elsewhere in Lisbon. You will find most international companies operate in Portugal, but most cars use manual transmission. If you need an automatic, it is important to confirm with the rental company that it is available. Driving in Lisbon can be challenging (imagine driving in LA and then add lots of traffic circles), but the drive to Évora is fairly easy. If you plan on exploring other areas of Portugal (we have recommendations on the "Things To Do" page), we suggest you rent a car. Otherwise, you do not need a car in Lisbon or Évora. In fact, parking in both Lisbon and Évora can be a challenge unless it is included with your accommodation.

Train

Train / Bus

You can take either a train or bus to Évora. There are four trains per day connecting Lisbon and Évora. The Intercidades (IC) train takes one hour and 33 minutes and makes 3 stops in Lisbon before continuing onto Évora. It starts from Oriente station (5 min from airport), and also stops at Entrecampos and Sete Rios. Évora Station, decorated with beautiful tile panels, is a 20-minute walk to Évora's city center, or a short cab ride to either hotel. The trip will take about one hour and 45 minutes. The service is carried out by Rede Expressos / Renex. In Lisbon, catch the bus at Sete Rios Bus Terminal (metro‘s blue line). Évora Bus Terminal is a 10-minute walk to the city center. The bus information is available at: https://www.rede-expressos.pt/en/.

We secured a room block at M'Ar De AR Hotels, Muralhas, which is a very nice 4 star hotel within the city walls of Évora that also has a parking garage - an advantage over many Airbnbs and smaller hotels. You can easily find other hotel accommodations using travel sites like Travelocity, Expedia, etc... We recommend only staying in accommodations in the center of Évora (inside the city walls) so you can easily see the city center on foot. Feel free to reach out with specific questions.
