Alyson has known Schynequa since she was in the fourth grade at Old Bridge Elementary School in Mrs. Campbell's class, they were also in the same 5th grade class with Mrs. McFadden. They'd lose touch in middle school and reunited at a mutual friends birthday party in 2005, and have spoken daily ever since. Alyson and Schynequa share a love of old school music, shows, chick flicks, books, 90s and early 20s nostalgia, celebrity crushes, hair care & food. They work as each others historians, filling the gaps of childhood memories and cherished experiences. Both the oldest of three children and only girls, born a day apart, both frequently relocating in early childhood, they were meant to be sisters. You can usually find them speaking on the phone for hours and laughing to the point of tears.
Kendall
Best Man
From the days pf navigating middle school in homeroom 7-300, and throughout the last 25 plus years, Kendall has been not only Tim's best friend but his second brother. Through the ups and downs of adolescence and adulthood, being parents to the current generation, and walking in God's purpose in their lives. Kendall has been a vital support and confidant. It doesn't hurt that Tim and Kendall share many hobbies including video games, their love for sports, and their enthusiasm for pro-wrestling. Who can ask for anything more from their best man!
Ryan

Alyson has known Ryan since August 2009 when they met at Burke Residence Hall (East 4 crew) at the University of Alabama. They instantly connected and spent time together at the dining hall, in each others rooms, walking to and from class, and sharing their experience as out of state students. Alyson credits Ryan with being her calm force in life, easy going, laid back, while simultaneously the life of the party. Alyson and Ryan especially love Alabama football! They make a point to speak at least once a week. One of their favorite memories is Thanksgiving in Birmingham at Aunt Lisa's house. Ironically October 2019 Ryan's fiance shared with Alyson his plans for proposing, and popped the big question in December The following year Alyson and Tim would be engaged the same time as well!
De'Andre (DJ)

On a cold January day in 2000, right before Tim started his undergraduate journey at Towson, his second nephew was born. Since then DJ has gone from Uncle Tim's little dude, to Debo, to IHOP because he dished out them pancakes on the football field, and now his brother nephew. DJ is growing to become a respectful and reliable young man with aspirations to be in the Criminal Justice field. The influence that DJ has and will have on others is phenomenal!
Lauren
Bridesmaid
Alyson jokingly says the only reason Lauren attended grad school in Valdosta was so they would become friends. They met summer 2015 at hall director training, working in the same freshman community called Southside. Lauren and Alyson quickly realized their love for tea/ coffee, binging netflix shows, twilight, cats, Sam Smith, target shopping adventures, puzzles, and funny memes. For two out of state students adapting to South Georgia, 4 hours from popular attractions and fun spots, they quickly formed a bond that made graduate school bearable. Though Lauren transferred after her first year, she and Alyson remain close friends to this day. August 2018 Alyson had the honor of being a bridesmaid in Lauren's wedding. Alyson loves Lauren's creativity, big heart, laugh, and listening ear.
Joshua (Josh)

As college friends at Towson University. Tim and Josh were roommates during Junior year. They share so many memories from those 10pm-2am parties at the student union, the outings at other venues like Casa Mia's, Dream, and H20. and those infamous 6-8 hour weekend hangouts inside the Glen Dining Hall with the folks. Life has taken Tim and Josh in all different directions and journeys, including Josh's military deployments and other journey throughout the word, but in spite of that Josh would always check in when he was settled back home. Now as they settle in life as family men and parents, they can rely on each other for support and hours long state of society conversations.
Sylvia
Bridesmaid
Alyson met Sylvia her second year of grad school at Valdosta State University. They were both Residence Hall Directors for The North Community. Sylvia and Alyson quickly hit it off due to their love for brunch, singing dramatic song ballads, binge watching Game of Thrones, movie nights, spiritual conversations, and passion for social justice. Sylvia has been a shoulder to both lean and cry on in Alyson's hardest moments. She made Alyson a personalized jar of affirmations to stay encouraged, purchased one of her favorite movies (she was too cheap to buy lol), and created a wellness Pinterest board for Alyson when she wanted to focus on creating a healthier lifestyle. She has spoke new jobs into existence and become a welcomed house guest at Alyson's home. Sylvia knew early Tim was the one!
Anthony (Tony)

They share the same mom and the same last name. Anthony and Tim have been brothers for 39 years/ Tim has had big brother Tony show him the ropes of manhood and life while Tim has shown Tony the nuances and trends of the younger generation. Tony may be paying attention. Maybe?! In addition to all of the things that Tony has taught Tim, his protectiveness and his concern for little brother will always be the way that he shows his love, and little brother is eternally grateful for that!
Whitley

Alyson met Whitley in Fall 2009 in Burke Residence Hall. Whitley is Alyson's stable grounding force in friendship & is her life transition buddy. Whitley is always ready to either give wisdom/ prayer or be your loudest hype man. Prior to undergrad graduation Alyson celebrated with Whitley at her surprise engagement shower in 2012, which led to virtual dress shopping via Facetime, & ironically her wedding day was the same say as her parents 25th anniversary renewal. Though it was a huge bummer that Alyson could not attend Whitley's wedding, Alyson is elated that Whitley gets to stand beside her on her special day. Alyson describes Whitley as an "emotional spotter", helping her hold steady with the weights of life, & not letting her fall. And gave Alyson an awesome gift- Greyson her godson!
Derrick

From the moment that Tim and Derrick met at a WAMAC meeting (ironically at Ft. Belvoir) in 2009, they have been instant friends. Sharing their love and passion for the community of military service members that they served, Tim and Derrick's friendship quickly grew through other interests and camaraderie. In 2011. Derrick and Tim got the chance to work at the same base where their friendship grew closer. Now that they are in separate new careers, Derrick and Tim still stay in contact and share the common goal of being about their families and being positive black role models for their communities
Megan

Alyson met Megan her first year at Valdosta State University at Brown Hall, she supervised Megan as a RA. Alyson admired Megan's positivity, hard work ethic and kind spirit, and after her time as her supervisor she and Megan became close friends. Megan and her husband Ian became Tim and Alyson's "couples friend," utilizing social media group chats, fantasy football and bake-off-challenges. Alyson and Megan enjoy reality TV, exchanging encouraging scripture and uplifting posts, and supporting each other through life's challenges, including when Megan provided a helpful distraction while awaiting medical results. Megan was the only friend of Alyson's that knew the proposal was happening, and immediately after Megan bought Alyson a mug that said "does this ring make me look engaged" Love her!
Ian

Ian and Tim became friends through the friendship of his wife Megan (see bridesmaid) and the beautiful Bride. Alyson. There has been a lot of bonding done whether it was through couples cooking competitions, fantasy football, talking about the day to day of life, or just simply being supportive of one another as they grow and become older. Ian and Megan were actually the first couple that Tim coached while he was practicing his coaching skills! It's just pretty awesome that along with a phenomenal wife. Tim gets phenomenal new friends like Ian!
