Things To Do
The Shenandoah National Park is a great place to check out if you are around for an extra day and have some time to check it out. Some favorites include:
-Old Rag (you now need a reservaion)
-Dark Hollow Falls
-Bear Fence Mountain (short with some rock scramble style areas)
-South River Falls
Other hikes outside of the SNP:
-High knob- a hike out on the West Virginia line to a fire tower you can climb.
-Humpback Rock- this one is a stair master of a hike.
-Fridleys Gap- close to town.
The JMU arboretum - nice place for a stroll and has an outdoor play area for children.
Westover Park is a nice place for a stroll as well. It has a playground as well as a frisbee golf course.
In the Harrisonburg area, downtown has a few restaurants and shops though they may get a bit busy over that weekend.
If you have some time and enjoy food and/or a glass of wine with a mountain view, route 151 has a restaurant along it (blue mountain brewery) as well as wineries and breweries.
