Flight

Los Angeles International Airport

Santa Barbara is located just 92 miles north of LA. You can choose to fly directly into Santa Barbara, however, LAX has more flight options especially non-stop from NYC. If flying into LAX, drive to Santa Barbara will be about 1hr 45min. We recommend renting a car to enjoy the scenic drive up and to have one available to see the most of Santa Barbara during your stay!

Flight

Santa Barbara Municipal Airport

Just 7 miles west of downtown Santa Barbara.

Shuttle

Santa Barbara Airbus

March 12, 2023 6:00 pm

This bus runs between LAX and Santa Barbara and tickets are about $100 per person. More info here: https://www.sbairbus.com/lax-shuttle-schedule-fares/

Train

Pacific Surfliner (Amtrak)

Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner is also an option to get from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara. The train leaves from Los Angeles Union Station and drops you off in downtown Santa Barbara.

Travel Note

Wedding Weekend Logistics

While our Wedding will be in Santa Ynez, California on October 7th, we are hosting our Welcome Party in downtown Santa Barbara on October 6th and recommend all guests plan accommodations in downtown Santa Barbara (you'll love it!). Getting there: We will be flying into LAX and renting a car to drive north to Santa Barbara. We find this way to be the most convenient way to get to Santa Barbara and the rentals are very reasonably priced. We have taking the Airbus in the past and it's a good experience if you don't mind not having a car. The Pacific Surfliner (Amtrak) truly does go straight to the heart of downtown SB (in fact you'll likely hear it coming & going during your stay). We've never taken it, but if the times line up, no doubt it would be a comfortable journey. Note that this train doesn't leave from LAX, instead, you'd need to get to Los Angeles Union Station which is about 30 minutes away. When there: We have a room block at Santa Barbara Inn which is also where our transport will be leaving for the wedding. This hotel is in downtown Santa Barbara which is where we recommend staying regardless of where you decide to stay. Our Welcome Party will be downtown on 10/6. There are a ton of other hotels on or just off State Street. Some other options include: Hotel Californian, Hilton Santa Barbara and Harbor View Inn. A bit further away are El Encanto, A Belmond Hotel, Kimpton Canary Hotel and The Ritz Carlton Bacara. Airbnb's are lovely in Santa barabara as well. This is a great option as well! Getting Around: We'll be renting a car at LAX for the duration of the trip. We've done this for all of our trips to California and cannot recommend more. It's not a requirement, and you absolutely don't need it for the wedding activities, but if you're hoping to see more of the area, we highly recommend.
