Cara and Jacob met when they matched on Hinge in February 2022. Jacob quickly gave his phone number to Cara when she impressed him with her best dad joke, and the rest is history! They bonded over their identical senses of humor, mutual love for ice cream, and their adoration of Jacob’s dog, CeCe. After a year and a half of bliss, Cara moved in with Jacob in Ann Arbor while he finished undergrad. After celebrating his graduation, Jacob and Cara went to Italy with their best friends, Aaron and Tayler, along with Jacob’s brother and sister-in-law, Cody and Khai. While in Rome, Jacob surprised Cara by flying out Joan (Cara’s mom and best friend), and her partner, Keith, to spend the rest of the trip with them. One day, while staying in Sorrento, the group took a boat tour of the Isle of Capri. After sealing their love with a kiss under the Tunnel of Love at the Faraglioni Rocks, Jacob got down on one knee and asked Cara to marry him. They spent the rest of the trip celebrating with some of their favorite people. In August 2024, Jacob and Cara moved to Grand Rapids where Jacob started medical school at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine. Life is busy between school, work, and wedding planning, but Cara and Jacob are so excited to celebrate with all their loved ones on June 27th, 2026.
