How we met

October 2nd, 2018

It all started with a paid website... Yep believe it or not, we met on matched.com. To tell this story requires wine and whiskey, but really not that much time. Lets just say we got lucky finding each other, and Nick was the only person I actually talked to on the website MONEY WELL SPENT. We were talking for a few weeks and decided to meet up at a bar, at the time called The Conquistador. Our conversation never slipped, there were no uncomfortable awkward moments. Everything just flowed naturally. We had been playing pool for about an hour when a group asked to play a game with us. We obliged them. While chatting they made the assumption that we were together for years (their words), we informed them we were only on our first date. Well, here we are now, we have a wonderful home, 3 dogs, and we're getting married!!

The Proposal

1-1-2022

New Year's Eve we decided to go up to Ski Bowl for the evening to watch the fireworks at midnight and snowboard. We dropped off the dogs at my parent's house. packed our grill with chicken skewers, and other snacks and went on our way... That was a bust, there was so much traffic, the parking lots were FULL, and we decided to turn back around and head to a friend's house for the evening. We decided we'd go up in the morning and still start off the day on the mountain... We get up at our normal time to go, and the locks on the truck were frozen, it was then when I said we didn't have to go up and we could find something else to do. Nick was determined to go up, he was adamant, and was doing everything he could think of to get the locks to unfreeze. Well, he finally gets the driver side door open and the canopy of the truck too... and off we went, me climbing into the truck through the drivers side. We make it to the mountain and the day was blue skies and beautiful, a true blue bird day. We go down a couple of runs and Nick suggests we go to the upper bowl to take our annual picture of our boots with the mountain in the background (we do this every year). Once we found a good place out of the way of others (didn't want to get plowed over) we put our boards to the side and sit, just looking out on the mountain in front of us. We take a few photos and Nick turns and asks of I want to add something shiney to the pictures. Me, being me, thinks he suggesting we take a picture with our flask and said "sure?". I turn towards him and he's just sitting there with a thin box open with the biggest smile on his face. He didn't say a word, just waited for me to SLOWLY put the pieces together. RIGHT AT THIS POINT a skier comes up behind us asking if we have gone down the run we're in front of... I'm crying (happy tears of course) Nick is still holding the ring, and she makes the realization "did you two just get engaged"?... We said yes we did, and asked her if she didn't mind taking some pictures. We're both glad she showed up then, because she took some great photos and we have this story to remember.
