We met on Easter Sunday, April 4th 2010. Rita (Stephs grandmother) invited Steve over for Easter dinner. He was new to Arizona and Rita asked him what his plans were for Easter, he said he didn't have any plans. Rita said, "Well, you'll come over. It will be me, my daughter, granddaughter and grandson and Johnny!" That night, after lots of eating, we sat out on the patio getting to know each other. Shortly after, there were meet ups for coffee, lunch, a concert, studying together, BBQs and pool days. We ended up going to Vegas for a weekend trip just for fun. The 4 hour car ride was the best part! We listened to music, shared our hopes and dreams, talked about how we grew up and where we came from. The entire trip was just magical. It was the last day in Vegas, sitting poolside in a hot tub at Mandalay Bay that our day dreaming and plans for the future lead us both to realize, we have so much in common and this could really be something special. Little did we know where this weekend trip would bring us.
On May 23rd, it was just another Wednesday. Steve called me as I was getting out of work and said, "You know, we've been living across the street from the beach for over a year now and we've never watched the sunset on the beach! When you get home, get ready the sun sets in an hour!" Of course, I thought nothing of it. I was like, "you're so right! Sounds like fun! See you soon" As we walked down the street we were talking about our day, as we get to the sand I take my shoes off and I'm just taking in all of the sights and how peaceful the beach was, the sound of the waves, the wind in my hair and the sand between my toes. It was just the two of us on the beach. Just as the sun is beginning to set, Steve gets down on one knee, in front of my favorite beach house, and asks me to marry him! I was so surprised and so caught off guard, I forgot to answer him! As I am standing there staring at him in disbelief and complete joy, he is still on one knee in the sand. The only words coming out of my mouth are, "Are you serious?! Are you kidding me?!" Still on one knee in the sand he says, "is that your answer?" I screamed "OH MY GOD! YES!"
