It all began in late December of 2018, when Stephanie sent Dan a message on Bumble asking for book recommendations. What started as a conversation about literature soon grew into lively exchanges about their shared passions for photography and travel. After a few days of chatting back and forth, they agreed to meet for their first date in early January. Fast forward to February 2020: fresh from their first trip to Europe together, the world came to a standstill as the COVID pandemic began. Dan quickly moved into Stephanie's cozy apartment in Astoria. It was during this challenging and uncertain time that they found comfort and strength in each other’s presence, with their appreciation and gratitude for one another growing stronger every day. Together, they created a rhythm—cooking and baking, starting a virtual book club, and often escaping to the rooftop to play cards, read, or share a picnic lunch. Stephanie taught daily yoga classes via Zoom while Dan worked remotely just out of view of the camera. In the stillness of that season, their love deepened and flourished. In 2023, during their second trip to Europe, Dan proposed to Stephanie in Florence, Italy. Just over a year later, during a return trip to their favorite little island off the coast of Acadia National Park in Maine, they decided to make it official and got legally married. Now, they are overjoyed to be planning their wedding day and can’t wait to exchange vows surrounded by their closest family and friends. Over their five years together, Stephanie and Dan’s story has been an adventure, filled with countless unforgettable memories. They seize every opportunity to travel but equally cherish their time together in New York City—a place they’ve each called home for over a decade. For those curious, Dan’s book recommendation to Stephanie after that very first message was The Spirit of Zen by Alan Watts.
