I first met Tim in high school - I was best friends with Tim's sister, Clare, and was practically a member of the Starr family. I was always crushing on Tim, but was always too shy to do anything about it. When I was a senior in high school and Tim was enjoying his first year in college Tim finally told me that he had liked me for years. Unfortunately, the timing wasn't right, but I remember telling my mom that it was ok because I knew we would end up together some day. Flash forward seven years and a roller coaster of broken hearts later and the timing was finally right! I was doing a clinical rotation in Des Moines where Tim was living and decided it was time to catch up. We were both so ready to be together that we both blurted out "I love you" by the third date. Tim kept me laughing through my last year of pharmacy school and encouraged me while I pursed my dream job-we picked up our lives and moved to Tiffin, IA, expanded our family by another puppy, and are living happily ever after!
The thought of proposing to Kathryn occurred to me on our first date. We were out at Iowa River Power and we were just making conversation and her entire face lit up when I made one of the worst jokes of my life. It was at that point in time that I decided that living with any other face in my life would have been such a chore. The time between then and when we actually got engaged was such a rush! We moved to Iowa City to begin our lives together and start the best family imaginable. Kathryn and my parents had been very close throughout our relationship and even back in high school. I knew that they had to be involved in the proposal on the actual day. We decided to go to The Palisade State Park to take family pictures with the two cutest puppies in the world. There was an archway that I knew would be the perfect spot. Once I had actually gotten into the archway it was a little awkward because it was in such a small area but it was too nice of a spot to skip out on. I tried dropping to a knee but it didn't really work so I just kind of awkwardly half knelt and asked Kathryn if she would be my best friend for the rest of her life while she laughed at me. Obviously she said yes and we have been trying to become less awkward ever since. I can't imagine life being any better than with her
