How We Met

September 2012

Micaela's POV: I walked into the gym my first day at Faith High School, my brand new school, & saw a kid in an oversized (He was wearing an XL when he was a S at most) navy Hollister zip up hoodie, zipped halfway, sitting on a lunch table. That kid was Nathan, & I have no idea how I remembered that since I can't remember what I wore or anything about anyone else, from that day. Love at first sight I suppose? That I'm not sure, I didn't start crushing on him until about a month later, so maybe it was a subconscious thought. I then silently stared at him for 3 years hoping something would happen. The only time we would acknowledge each other was every year when we were on homecoming court together (thanks to the entire school who knew I liked him). Flash forward to the summer of senior year, Nathan got assigned to give me a ride to our class garage sale. I was so nervous I got physically sick but he was already outside so I couldn't bail! We were forced to talk to each other so we didn't sit in awkward silence. Now skip ahead 6 years of dating and we are here! Nathan's POV: I first met Micaela on the first day of freshman year. We pretty much didn't acknowledge each other for 3 years, which is something I'll never live down. But the summer before senior year, I had to give her a ride to a class garage sale. We talked the whole time, & afterward I just wanted to keep talking to her more. Soon after the sale, I went on a vacation with my family. They kept asking me who I was talking to the entire trip, because we texted all day every day until 3 in the morning. I was too chicken to ask her out on a date, so I kept trying to get our whole class to do things together so I could see her. One day we all planned on going to see a movie, and then everyone backed out except Micaela & me. I texted her & said we could still go, & luckily she said yes. We went on a couple more dates after that, I then asked her to be my girlfriend, & 7 years later I finally get to marry her.

Our Engagement Story

November 31st 2019

Micaela's POV: Nathan and I headed to Frankenmuth to spend the day in our favorite little Christmas town. We spent the first part of the day at Grandpa Tiny's Farm where we rode in a horse drawn wagon and got to pet a baby reindeer. Nathan seemed perfectly normal the entire time. Before we went to Bronner's, our all time favorite place to be, we stopped to grab a snack. Nathan didn't eat much which I thought was weird for him, but I wasn't thinking much of it. On our way to Bronner's he got a phone call that some of his family was also at Bronner's so we were going to meet up to take each others pictures with all the Christmas stuff. As we walked through Bronner's I saw the engagement ornaments and thought to myself "I can't wait till I can get one of those and hopefully soon". It was much sooner than I could have imagined because when we went to take our picture outside he proposed! Nathan's POV: After thinking about how and where I was going to propose to Micaela for months, I finally thought of doing it at Bronner's, which is our favorite place to be. I picked her up from her house and we went to Grandpa Tiny's farm first. My plan was to have my sister Quinn text me and tell me she'd be at Bronner's at the same time as us with her fiancé (now husband) Drew and my cousin Anna. Then we could take pictures for each other, and when she went to take our picture, I'd propose. I was so nervous all day about making the plan work and not acting like I was up to something. But everything went as planned and afterward Micaela told me I seemed perfectly normal all day, so I guess I didn't do to bad.
