Rachel and Eric first met at Camp Nock-A-Mixon back in 2003. Rachel was 9 and Eric was 13. They most definitely did not speak to one another, but they may have brushed arms in the dining hall or during a color war line up. Eric's favorite joke is that he remembers Rachel as a "hot 9 year old" that he always wanted to date. Rachel remembers Eric as “Scott Sitman's twin brother”. Fortunately, their paths would once again cross 15 years later in April 2017 at a camp reunion at a bar in Times Square. After reminiscing with old counselors and bunkmates, Rachel and Eric found each other in the middle of the bar and struck up a conversation. They quickly discovered they both worked in finance, Rachel had been thinking about leaving her job, and that their offices were next door on Park Avenue. Eric suggested they grab a coffee the following week and Rachel wasn’t sure if it was going to be a date or a potential job opportunity. She was excited about the prospect of both. They exchanged numbers and Eric very smoothly texted her “This is Eric’s cell.” Just in case Rachel thought he was maybe texting from his landline in Dobbs Ferry. A few days after the camp reunion, the two met for a coffee at UrbanSpace and then Eric left for a work trip. After he returned, he asked Rachel on a more official dinner date to Balaboosta in Nolita. Two months later they took a trip to Puerto Rico and Eric told the cab driver in Spanish that he was falling in love with Rachel. Fast forward to September 27, 2019 and Eric surprised Rachel, standing on the roof of their apartment building holding a bouquet of roses, looking straight out of an episode of the Bachelor. Rachel agreed to marry him and they can’t wait to celebrate with their beloved family and friends on May 22, 2021 in their backyard in Sag Harbor. <3
