No. We try to be as green as we can, so we chose to send out a simple Save the Date instead. Please remember to RSVP on this site. Thank you.
As early as possible. Book your flight into Belize City first. Then book a flight for the small plane. The small planes only carry 8-12 people so make sure you find one that correlates with your landing time from the US. The two airlines that fly into Placencia are Tropic Air and Maya Island Airline. Refer to the Travels and Accommodations page for the websites. Tropic Air Discount Code: SHEAHKEANEBAKE
You can rent a car and drive 2 hours and 48 minutes. OR hop on a puddle jumper plane and get there in 35-45 minutes. Go to Travel & Accommodations section to reserve that flight.
The easiest way is to call them or email them so that you get our wedding code. Please do this ASAP as we cannot hold this block for month on end. The code is Keane wedding RG30. You can call toll free at 1-800-565-9757 or email frontoffice@robertsgrove.com. The people you need to reach out to are Pauline or Julita.
They are in Central Standard, but does not observe Daylight Savings.
Make sure your passport and all documents are up to date.
YES. So the last time I was there, I was attacked by sandflies. DEET does not work on them. Everyone has recommended Avon’s Skin So Soft bug spray. This creates a thicker more oily barrier. FYI: You can find new lower priced bottles on Ebay.
Schedule with your resort to have them pick you up. You can also reserve a golf cart with your resort so that it is there once you arrive. Then let the exploring begin!
Taxi service is available in and around Placencia. If you need a taxi, please let your host know and they can arrange one for you.
Belizean plugs and outlets are the same size and shape as the United States and the electrical power is 110 volts/60 cycle, which is the same as the US and Canada.
There are grocery stores a short drive from the house and more grocery stores as well as a farmer’s market in Placencia Village. Local grocery stores are relatively well stocked and you’ll always be able to find the basics, like toilet paper, sunscreen, bug spray, etc. However, produce is sold at farm stands, not the grocery store and if there’s something specific you know you’ll need, we recommend bringing it with you. There is also a pharmacy in the village.
Most major credit cards are accepted throughout the village, but AMEX isn’t as widely accepted as Visa or MasterCard. For a small fee, ATMs are available in the village. Many tour operators accept credit cards, but some require cash. We recommend having some cash on hand. There are safes in each room to store cash and valuables during you stay.
You can but you don’t have to. United States Dollars are accepted throughout the country. One U.S. dollar is worth two Belize dollars – this rate is set and does not change. The majority of prices are listed in Belize dollars (except where noted) and you can pay in USD. However, they will give you change back in Belizean dollars.
Generally, the average tip at restaurants in Belize is about 10%. However, some locations add an extra 8.5% “service fee” charge to your meal or stay so be sure to check your bill before adding on an additional tip. And it’s always appreciated when you tip your tour guides for a job well done or for any extra service.
