Question

Do I need to have a passport to enter Costa Rica?

Answer

Yes, everyone will need a passport valid for a minimum of six months from date of arrival in the country. For American citizens, if you do not have a passport or need to renew yours visit the U.S. State Department website for information.

Question

How should I get there?

Answer

The best way to get to Santa Teresa is by flying into either San José (SJO) or Liberia (LIR). From there, you can take a puddle jumper flight to Cobano Airport (ACO), which is a short 30-40 minute flight. Once you land, you'll need to take a taxi to Santa Teresa (approximately 25 minutes). For more detailed travel information and to assist with booking your puddle jumper flights, please visit the Travel section of our website. If you have additional questions or need further assistance, contact our Travel Coordinator, Will Dove, at destination@blissweddingscostarica.com.

Question

Can I rent a vehicle to explore Santa Teresa?

Answer

Absolutely! Will Dove, our Travel Coordinator, can assist with booking a variety of vehicles during your stay in Santa Teresa. Whether you’re interested in renting ATVs, side-by-sides, cars, motorbikes, or regular bikes, Will can help arrange the perfect transportation for you. Question

What should I pack?

Answer

The coast of Costa Rica stays fairly warm all year long and usually only a light sweater or long sleeve short is needed on occasion. For the most part of your stay you will be your bathing suit. A few light summer clothes like dresses, shorts and tank tops should be mainly what you bring for clothes (aside from your wedding and welcome party attire). Bring comfortable sandals or flip-flops and maybe a good pair of walking shoes. Just think light and comfortable! Please bring: Sun block, rain jacket, bug repellent, and cash.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We’ve reserved room blocks at Hotel Tropico Latino and House of Somos, two fantastic options for your stay in Santa Teresa. If you prefer an Airbnb or private rental, there are plenty of beautiful properties available in the area, perfect for larger groups or those seeking more privacy. For Hotel Tropico Latino and House of Somos bookings, please visit the Travel section of our website for more details. For Airbnb or private rental options, our Travel Coordinator, Will Dove, can assist with recommendations and help you find the perfect place to stay. Contact Will at destination@blissweddingscostarica.com for assistance with booking and any questions you may have.

Question

When should I arrive in Santa Teresa?

Answer

We recommend arriving 1 or 2 days before the welcome party on Thursday, February 19th. Traveling to Costa Rica can take anywhere from a half day to a full day depending on where you are coming from.

Question

What should I wear to the welcome party?

Answer

Guests in Blue Before the I Do! — We’d love to see everyone dressed in shades of blue in dressy casual attire. Think of it as a step up from everyday wear outfits that feel put-together and festive without being too formal. For women, this could mean a blue dress with sandals or heels, or a coordinated two-piece outfit like a blouse with a skirt or tailored pants. Jumpsuits in blue are also a great option. For men, consider button-down shirts, polos, chinos, or slacks—blazers are welcome but not required. Please refrain from wearing denim. Question

What is the wedding dress code?

Answer

Our dress code is cocktail, beachy attire. Light, breathable fabrics, colors, and festive touches are all encouraged. We recommend avoiding high heels due to the sand (wedges, block heels, or stylish flats are great alternatives). For women, flowy dresses, midi or maxi lengths, coordinated sets, or elevated jumpsuits are perfect. For men, lightweight button-downs, linen or dress shirts with slacks or tailored trousers, and loafers or dressy sandals work well. Jackets are optional, and ties are not expected. Please refrain from wearing jeans, denim pants, or shorts. Please use this Pinterest board as inspiration: https://www.pinterest.com/rileypinto/dennis-wedding-costa-rica/

Question

What colors will the bridal party be wearing?

Answer

The bridesmaids will be dressed in different shades of green. The groomsmen will be wearing classic tan linen suits.

Question

Can I bring a guest/date?

Answer

We are so excited to celebrate this day with our nearest and dearest, but we can only accommodate guests formally invited on your wedding invitation. Thank you for understanding!

Question

Am I allowed to bring my children?

Answer

We have chosen to make our special day an adults-only celebration to ensure all guests, especially parents, can fully immerse themselves in the joy of the occasion. We hope this advance notice means you are still able to join us for our big day! Your understanding means the world to us, and we can't wait to celebrate with you.

Question

Is the venue indoor or outdoor?

Answer

Both the ceremony and reception will be held outdoors/beachfront. Make sure to dress appropriately and keep hydrated throughout the day.

Question

Can I take photos and videos during the ceremony?

Answer

Our wedding ceremony will be an unplugged occasion. We kindly ask that you be present with us and do not have your phones or cameras out during the ceremony. We have professional photographers to capture all the special moments and are excited to share the photos with you.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

To help us with our planning, please RSVP to the events as soon as possible. However, the deadline is December 1st 2025. If we do not receive an RSVP by this date, we cannot make exceptions and will have to mark you as 'no'. We need to provide the venue with a total guest count in a timely manner, we hope you can understand.

Question

Is there transportation to the venue?

Answer

Shuttles will be available to take guests to the wedding from Hotel Tropico Latino and House of Somos. Shuttles can be made available from Airbnbs as well (please let us know if you are interested in this option).

Question

Where should I exchange money? Are atm’s widely available?

Answer

The best exchange rate you will receive is at the bank. Most places do take USD like supermarkets, stores, and tour agencies, but their exchange rate might be lower than in the bank. While a lot of places will accept credit cards, some places will only accept cash. In Santa Teresa / Mal Pais there is one ATM, located in the middle of town, Playa Carmen and other two alongs the town. The machine may or may not have USD, if not it will only give colones and there is a maximum of $600 per day you can take out.

Question

Will there be vegetarian options?

Answer

Yes! We will have a variety of options to meet everyone's dietary needs.

For all the days along the way
