We were both taking a summer physics class at GVSU. John would sometimes come up and ask me questions in the library to talk to me. Then, we met up at Mully's, a bar at Grand Valley, started talking every day, and finally went on our first date.

John picked me up from my apartment, and we headed downtown to Hop Cat for dinner (it's now one of our favorite restaurants). After, we went to Van Andel Arena for a Griffins hockey game. We talked through the entire game and found so many things we had in common. Finally, we didn't want the night to end, so we watched Pirates of the Caribbean with our dogs before going our separate ways. From then on, we saw each other almost every day.

It was my birthday, and we were planning to spend the day at Holland's Tulip Time. We went out to lunch in the city, and John let me know we had a dinner reservation in Grand Haven. On our way to dinner, we stopped at the beach where we first told each other "I love you". He told me he wanted to take a walk, and led me down to his set up on the beach.
