Max and I met 11 years ago. I was a freshman and he was a sophomore at Cortland. To keep the story as short and sweet as possible.. My friends and I went to a fraternity party during the first few weeks of school. I lost my friends for a minute and was being pestered by a guy, so when I saw Max coming down the stairs I grabbed his arm and asked him to pretend to be my boyfriend for a few minutes. We got talking and very soon after we stopped pretending and started seeing one another. Unfortunately, I quickly realized that Cortland was not for me and that transferring to a school closer to home was the right move. Max and I decided that long distance may not be right for us at the time, but we genuinely felt we would work out when the time was right. It’s hard to explain, but we just knew in our hearts that we had found our person. We stayed in touch and visited each other through the years. In March of 2021 he came to visit me and that was it. We just knew it. Soon after he moved out of Long Island and into my (now our) home. And things have been amazing! We got engaged in one of our favorite places in Michigan, where the Platte River meets Lake Michigan. We could not be luckier and can't wait to be husband and wife!
