One weekend I finally made it home from Harding to visit my family in Texas, my parents said they were going to have someone over for dinner (who they had gotten to know from work and were thoroughly impressed by). Dinner was cooking, Eliseo showed up, we shook hands and then my dad quickly sent us (way to go, dad) to the store because there was a dier need for an avocado with dinner. Who eats a burger without an avocado, right? I'll never forget -- I volunteered to drive, to which he replied "oh no, I've lived here longer so I know the short cut to Walmart" ...'short cut' quickly turned into 'road trip.' He somehow managed to get lost along the 5 minute drive, although later on down the road (literally and figuratively) he claims that it was his plan all along..(cute, but not true). Him and I left for the store as two strangers and came back as best friends. After a tasty avocado-filled dinner, we ended the night in a competitive ping-pong game. I'll let you decide who won ;)
As the date grew closer to our anniversary, he told me to get dressed up because we were going on a date to celebrate. He gave me 4 different clues--each one indicating a meaningful place to us. First clue took us back to where we first met and eventually we ended up at Joe T. Garcias (THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD AROUND), one of our popular date night 'treat-yo-self' locations. He knew I'd ask to take a picture by the pretty outside waterfall fountain, like every other time we've been there, and he was right. He proceeded to take the to-go box out of my hand, set it aside, took my hands, and got down on one knee <3
