We are firm believers in everything happens for a reason and that truly played out for us both. We met in a city neither of us intended to be in, but it worked out for the best. Our first date was at Barrio in Chicago on a Wednesday night. At the time, Jon was in his third year of medical school and Sara was about to start her new job as an attorney and was awaiting her bar results. Sara ordered her usual, a margarita with tajin and to her surprise Jon said "I'll do the same". Green flag. We were having such a great time -literally lost in conversation- that through the night four waiters and the manager approached our table to ask whether there were any issues or complaints about the food. We were confused because we were having a great time. Turns out, we had sat there for nearly two hours and had barely touched our tacos. Those of you who know us, know we love food and that no taco gets left behind. Their concern, contrary to what was actually happening, was that we hated our food. Despite the constant "is something wrong" from the waiters, it was a great night! From that day on the dates continued to be just as interesting, fun, and exciting as the first. From bitter cold runs in the windy city to karaoke at Alice's and Trader Todd’s, to forcing Jon to wear Cubs gear, to hiking the Gros Pitons. God knew what he was doing when he unexpectedly sent a Texas girl and Missouri boy to Chicago. We are so blessed and thankful for the support from our family and friends. We cannot wait to celebrate in Texas!
