It started in week 3 of sophomore year of college. Sangeetha was over at Decker's apartment (friends from freshman year), just saying hi when she was introduced to Decker's new roommate (who he'd been paired with through another mutual friend), Timothy. Sangeetha's first impression of Timothy was that he was a quiet, thoughtful boy with a really nice smile. Tim's first impression of Sangeetha was "she was cool and fun to be around." Little did they know that they had just found their lifelong partners.

Over the next couple of months, Tim and Sangeetha became fast friends. They would spend evenings playing Fifa with Sangeetha trying her hardest to get on the board (the place that Tim and Decker kept tally of Fifa game wins), talking about a range of random things when they were supposed to be studying, and bonding over their mutual love for adventuring. Whether it was eating at the dining hall, doing something mundane like laundry together, or going on long runs/walks through Piedmont park, they realized they just really enjoyed spending time together and that this could be the beginning of something more than just friendship.

As with every relationship, they had their challenges along the way. Trying to balance school and family expectations alongside semesters of study abroad apart, all while also figuring out whether this was a relationship worth pursuing, was a tough journey for them both. However, even with some of these tough moments, they still found many moments of joy and laughter with each other, poignant reminders of why they wanted to be together in the first place. Their relationship was further tested when Sangeetha graduated and left Atlanta to pursue her career in medicine, with Tim staying behind to finish his final year of undergrad. They made the decision to try to continue doing long distance as Sangeetha started medical school in Seattle WA, while Tim made the move up to New York City to start his first job at IBM. Through hours-long facetime calls, trips back and forth across the US that were far too short each time, and countless Whatsapp messages, snapchats, and instagram reel forwards, they found ways to stay a part of each others' lives even as they continued building their own. Those five years were some of the toughest years in their relationship but were also some of the most defining as they fell deeper in love despite being physically apart. March of 2022 finally saw an end to long distance when Sangeetha matched to New York for her residency.

Being back in the same city gave them the chance to realize the full potential of what they had first gotten a glimpse of years ago as college students. Through countless beach days, food adventures, park runs, sunset watches after work, 1v1 basketball games, living in New York solidified that after all this time, they continued to just really love hanging out with each other. It only took 9 years, but Tim finally got down on one knee at Central Park with their whole families by their sides, marking the beginning of many more adventures, laughs, and moments together to come.
