Lively restaurant with plenty of things to see everywhere you look and a huge menu. Located in the college town of Kent, this is unique place worth checking out with plenty of other cool places in the vicinity.
Luigi's Restaurant
Can you say cheese please? This Akron staple has been in business for 75 years! If you love Italian food, good vibes, and cheese, you'll want to check this place out. The wait can get long at times and the parking can be a pain. They also only accept cash payment.
Northside Marketplace
Interested in some Akron shopping? The Northside Marketplace has a ton of local shops and restaurants all under one roof! You can shop, you can eat, you can even take a break and relax in the lounge or on their outdoor patio. You might even find some treasures from local artists here. This is also in the same area as Luigi's.
Swensons Drive-In
A famous Akron drive in restaurant with many locations throughout the area. This is a burger and shake joint that will have their staff literally running out to your car to serve you.
F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm
Beautiful place to walk and see the nature and beauty of Ohio. Good restrooms, nice trails, Pokémon Go.
Firestone Metro Park-Tuscarawas Meadows Area
Located on the other side of the Coventry Oaks Lodge we rented for the ceremony and picnic, this is a beautiful place for some time outdoors.
Mr. Zub's Deli & Bar
Located in a fun area of the city, Highland Square, this little sandwich shop is an Akron staple with a fun menu featuring unique sandwiches named for movies you know and love.
Irie Jamaican Kitchen
Another place in Highland Square, this small chain has good food and quick service.

Craving something sweet? Pav's won't be beat! Pavs boasts freshly made custard, homemade hard ice creams, and plenty of delicious non-dairy options. They even have a large selection of boozy milkshakes. This local favorite now has several locations in the area.

If you know Danielle, then you know she loves pizza. We've had many dates at this downtown pizza joint. They have a fun selection of draft beer in the form of a beer wall and plenty of great pizza options. Great for dining in.
Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens
Historic landmark and museum and one of the largest houses in the USA. The estate includes gardens, a greenhouse, carriage house, and main mansion.
Beau's on the River
This upscale dinning option offers a stunning view of the Cuyahoga river and falls through its massive floor to ceiling windows.
Doodle Drive In
This unique dog themed drive in restaurant has indoor seating as well as the drive in option and they have a dog park you can eat in as well. They also have fresh scratch food, beef bacon, and a whole menu for your dog as well.
BARC - Akron Dog Park
Our local dog park that includes a small dog area for Korra and only Korra.
Canal Park
Home of the Akron Rubber Ducks baseball team, this is a place we spend a lot of time. It is a beautiful and accessible ballpark with a great staff and tons of fun to be had. If you have some extra time while you are in town, you should take in game here. The Ducks are the AA affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians professional baseball team.
Lock 3 Park
Located in the heart of downtown Akron, this is a place that is hopping on the weekends in the spring and summer. They are doing some construction on this area right now but hopefully it will be open by Memorial Day weekend.
Gasoline Alley
We love this place! It is a little small and maybe a bit out of the way but its really good.
El Meson Mexican Restaurant
If you like Mexican food, fresh, locally sourced ingredients and really really good margaritas, you may want to check this place out. It is a favorite of ours.
Tito's Mexican Grill - Fairlawn
Another great option for Mexican food in the area. Great food and great value.
Umami Noodle
Great little local ramen place we like a lot.
Milestone - A Board Game Bar
This is a very nice board game bar with amazing hot dog creations. It is in Canton, OH, not far from the Akron-Canton Airport.
Great Oaks Tavern
Another board game bar in the Akron area. This place has really great food and cocktails. The giant pretzels are the best! They have nice vegetarian options as well.
Akron Art Museum
This is a smaller art museum but they change up their displays and always have something interesting to see.
Highland Square Theatre
This old fashion theater is a gem. It only houses one screen and plays one film per week and admission is always only $5. There is new seating inside but the style is still as it was back in the day. There is a full bar inside the theater as well. It is located in the fun Highland Square area of Akron with plenty of places to eat right next door (a couple of them are even on this list!)
The Rail - Fairlawn
If you love burgers you have to try the Rail's gourmet burgers! These are made from 100% fresh and local beef. They also feature local chicken, craft cocktails with spirits from local distilleries, and local dairy products for their shakes.
Baxter's Speakeasy
This eclectic bar will be well received by anyone wanting to experience some exciting mixology in a very unique space. Located in downtown Akron, it is also attached to a very good pizza place, Totally baked pizza and they'll happily bring your pizza over to your comfy seat to enjoy with your cocktail.

These unusual pizzas are some of the best pies I've ever had. Attached to Baxter's Speakeasy in downtown Akron, this is a great idea for a night out.
The Bomb Shelter
If you are looking to shop for some really unique finds, this the place that houses the craziest thrifting you can imagine.
HiHO Brewing Co.
This local brewery in Cuyahoga Falls can be a lot of fun. The beer is great and always changing. They have a good sized space inside and outside. There menu is small but their pizza is wood fired and very good. If you like to be waited on, this place probably isn't for you. You order at the bar and they will give you a number and bring your food over but you help yourself to plates, napkins, utensils and water. This is a chill vibe, attracting all walks of locals.
The Blue Door Café & Bakery
If you are looking for a great brunch, this is the very best. This is an upscale place and they do not take reservations for brunch. Their pastries and breads are very good as well. The Blue door is located in Cuyahoga Falls and is about 5 minutes from our house.
