We plan to adhere to the most up-to-date CDC guidelines and city of Milwaukee regulations. Currently there is no mask mandate in Milwaukee, but this may change now that COVID cases are rising across the state. Please return to this site for updates closer to the event. We encourage our guests to receive a negative COVID test in the days leading up to the reception. All are welcome to wear a mask if they wish to do so — but we especially request those who have not received the vaccine to wear a mask when not eating or drinking. Thank you for your understanding; We can't wait to finally celebrate with you.
We wanted to be absolutely certain our loved ones would be healthy, happy, and safe when we finally gathered to celebrate our marriage. We have postponed our wedding celebrations twice to insure this. Now, we are happy to say that the city of Milwaukee and our reception venue has officially lifted previous restrictions allowing us to fully celebrate! Although our wedding plans are far from what we had expected, we have found so much to be grateful for. We have come to trust that our plans would work out as they are supposed to. We were officially married last September and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. We felt at peace knowing that the right time would come to celebrate our marriage with all of our family and friends. Postponing the reception to meant we could also celebrate on the weekend of our one-year wedding anniversary -- making it all the more special. We feel blessed to have friends and family who are so loving, patient and understanding. Thank you for your supportive thoughts and words. If you have any questions about the change of plans, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Sparks flew while trading sparknotes in English class at Dominican High School. Mary teased Sam for falling off his chair on their first day of school. Still, she liked that he was tall, funny and had a goofy charm. Sam thought she was cute with her flat-ironed hair and teal braces. He went to great lengths to impress her, from exaggerating his interest in Harry Potter to attempting to learn the piano (one song). He even gave her the last known DVD of his grade school performance of High School Musical on her birthday. Sophomore year, Sam eventually worked up the courage to ask her to dance at a party to the forgettable and unromantic Ray Nitti song "Bow Bow Bow". Shortly after, he asked her to be his homecoming date and girlfriend. Looking back on that roller coaster of hormones, they remember cheering each other on during theater performances and basketball championships, cruising around in The Pearl, walks to Klode park after school, attending prom together, and a few emotional breakup songs of course (Taylor Swift for her, John Mayer for him). There is no shortage of awkward photos to document this time together. A break up and agreement to remain friends became slightly more complicated when Sam and Mary independently chose to attend the same college, Saint Louis University. Their honest effort to give each other space quickly failed, partially due to both spending time with Sam’s new best friend/archnemesis/roommate: Simon Yadgir. With their parents quietly rooting from the sideline, high school sweethearts would become college sweethearts by the end of the year. Over the next seven years, their love for each other grew stronger as they faced new experiences both together and far apart. While Mary studied abroad in Rome, Sam prayed that she wouldn’t be swept away by an Italian hunk. While Sam worked in Haiti, Mary prayed that he wouldn’t be swept away in a hurricane. Through it all, it was clear that their paths were meant to have the other in it.
If you ask Mary or Sam to name their “happy place”, they would each answer exactly the same: Crivitz. Over the years, Mary and Sam have spent numerous weekends at the Yadgirs’ cabin on the Peshtigo River in Crivitz, WI. Up north, the activity of the moment always feels just right - whether it’s drifting down the river on a paddleboard, fishing on the pontoon, or staying inside with a fire, book and board games. Sam was certain he wanted to ask Mary to marry him in the place they both felt so at peace and at home. Sam proposed in the middle of the quiet river during the much awaited golden hour, with family just up the stairs at the cabin, waiting anxiously for their return.
