Koumbaroi

In the Greek Orthodox Christian faith it is important to have a wedding sponsor. The role of the sponsor is to bear witness to the readiness of the couple to be joined to each other in marriage. In Greek, the wedding sponsors are called Koumbaroi (which is the plural form of Koumbaros and Koumbara). Practically, the sponsor(s) is responsible for the ring exchange after the priest has blessed the rings of the couple and placed them on their fingers, as well as the crowns after they have been blessed and placed on the heads of the couple. A Sponsor should be someone who will be there for the couple spiritually and help them lead their marriage to success.

John & Diana Zervas

Koumbaroi

We have chosen John & Diana Zervas as our Koumbaroi, over the years we have developed a great friendship with them. John and Diana have brought us into their family with open hearts, they have always been there for the big moments and, always remember the little things! We think of them as role models as they continue to grow their marriage and family with love and respect in the Christian faith. John & Diana have been apart of our lives together since the very beginning of our relationship. They have always been people we can count on and trust for reliable advice as it pertains to life, our relationship, and growing as a couple. We are so happy and blessed to have them be apart of our wedding, and future family!
