Diana was born and raised in sunny Los Angeles, but when COVID hit, she took a leap and made the cross-country move—something she'd always wanted—to live in NYC. While building a new life (and enduring her first real winter), she made some great friends—one of whom eventually invited her to a destination wedding in Cancun, Mexico. Ryan, a lifelong New Yorker (minus a brief college detour to Maryland), had zero intention of leaving behind his beloved bagels and pizza for good. After returning to the city post-college, he settled into NYC life—and was also invited to the same wedding in Cancun by a coworker turned close friend. Diana and Ryan exchanged a few words at the wedding itself, but it was the next day’s Xochimilco event where things really clicked. They ended up talking non-stop the entire time, through dinner, and well into the afterparty at the bar. Ryan tried his best to be charming—though his attempts were subtle enough that Diana didn’t quite realize he was flirting. Luckily, the feeling was mutual. The next morning, Diana spotted Ryan waiting in the lobby to head to the airport. Not wanting the connection to end, she invited him to a "group brunch"—though she hadn’t exactly invited anyone else yet. And that’s how it all began: in another country, over tacos, tequila, and a not-so-group brunch.
